M:I1 definitely didn't age well. I mean, I know that it's been 21 years, still... it felt too... dated? Like the old Bond movies, a bit too ridiculous and not gritty enough to be suspenseful. I don't know if that was the goal, the evoke the atmosphere of the TV series, but that's how it felt. And Tom Cruise was so young there!

M:I2 was, IMO, much better, thanks to John Woo and Hans Zimmer and Tom Cruise taking his stunt work even farther. I'm not saying that it's the best movie in the series - I think that that honor belongs to M:I4 - but it has definitely the best cinematography. John Woo is brilliant in that way. The slo-mo, the doves in the fire... the visuals were simply breathtaking. And Tom Cruise has never been prettier *happy sigh*
