Wow. Isn't Nicholas Hoult a gorgeous young man? I mean, he tends to play geeks and shy boys but... wow, just wow. He really is beautiful and I'm not exaggerating. An awesome actor too, of course, that I already knew. But when I saw this pic...

You know, I'm not into celebrity couples, at all. But I find Nicholas Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence incredibly beautiful together. And not just visually. When she talks about him, saying that her boyfriend is also her best friend... There's something so sweet and heart-warming about them. For once I can honestly say that I hope a celebrity couple doesn't break up because it would break my heart a little.

Book #63

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter #2)" by J.K. Rowling

♦ ♦ ♦

The first third was quite boring though interspersed with amusing anecdotes. The book didn't get going until the Chamber of Secrets was mentioned for the first time. From that moment on, the book was much better, though still a bit too drawn out. And considering that almost everything that happened in the book could've been avoided if the children had stopped lying/keeping secrets and told the truth - especially when specifically asked... Or maybe I'm just way too old and grumpy, could be.

One thing though - I intensely disliked Dobby. You could say, I downright hated him. What a terrible character. He made Harry's life a living hell, he closed the door to Hogwarts and he almost got Harry killed - but oh, it was all good because he did it while trying to protect Harry? What a stupid thing.

And because of all this, the book simply doesn't deserve more than 3 stars, no matter how gripping it was in some places.

Such a beautiful movie about grief, loneliness and depression. And yes, I'll spoil you because I consider it only fair - it doesn't have a happy ending, not really. At the beginning of the day, when George woke up all depressed, he would've welcomed this ending. At the end of the day, when Kenny helped him see how beautiful and whimsical the world still was... I'm not so sure.

All the actors were so amazing in this film. Colin Firth won a BAFTA for it. Matthew Goode was simply delicious. And Nicholas Hoult so beautiful! Julianne Moore and Ginnifer Goodwin had a part in it too. And there was even a scene with Lee Pace in it!

My favorite scene of all was the flashback to George and Jim just sitting on a couch together, each in one corner, face to face, feet stuck together and with their dogs all snuggled against them, and they were just reading: George was reading Metamorphosis for a class and Jim Breakfast at Tiffany. It was such a beautiful domestic scene. All the more bittersweet because it happened just a week before Jim died, after they had been together for 16 years... and Jim's family wouldn't even let George attend the funeral.

Another beautiful thing about this movie was the score. The music by Abel Korzeniowski was stunning. You can listen to a bit of it here: link.

I'm not sure if I'll watch this movie ever again but it made a real impact on me. I'm glad I own it on DVD.
