Such a beautiful movie about grief, loneliness and depression. And yes, I'll spoil you because I consider it only fair - it doesn't have a happy ending, not really. At the beginning of the day, when George woke up all depressed, he would've welcomed this ending. At the end of the day, when Kenny helped him see how beautiful and whimsical the world still was... I'm not so sure.

All the actors were so amazing in this film. Colin Firth won a BAFTA for it. Matthew Goode was simply delicious. And Nicholas Hoult so beautiful! Julianne Moore and Ginnifer Goodwin had a part in it too. And there was even a scene with Lee Pace in it!

My favorite scene of all was the flashback to George and Jim just sitting on a couch together, each in one corner, face to face, feet stuck together and with their dogs all snuggled against them, and they were just reading: George was reading Metamorphosis for a class and Jim Breakfast at Tiffany. It was such a beautiful domestic scene. All the more bittersweet because it happened just a week before Jim died, after they had been together for 16 years... and Jim's family wouldn't even let George attend the funeral.

Another beautiful thing about this movie was the score. The music by Abel Korzeniowski was stunning. You can listen to a bit of it here: link.

I'm not sure if I'll watch this movie ever again but it made a real impact on me. I'm glad I own it on DVD.
