Andy Mikita had his Q&A session on Joe M.'s blog last night and this part literally broke my heart - Andy was asked what were his most traumatic memories, looking back at his time on Atlantis: "I think the day Joe (Flanigan) lost his dad was the hardest. I felt terrible and he insisted in carrying on. Every time I watch Search & Rescue and see him trapped under the rubble it reminds me of that day. That’s what we were shooting when he got the news."

Ouch. At Comic Con, Joe said that something very bad happened to him on a personal level while they were filming S5 but that's just heartbreaking :( And he still wanted to carry on. Wow.

And take a look at the poll archive on MGM's home page:

Are you enjoying this season of Stargate Atlantis?
Yes! - 97% - 1991
No. - 2% - 48
Undecided. - 1% - 20

Are you excited about Stargate Universe?
YES! - 13% - 1543
No. - 85% - 10004
What's Stargate Universe? - 2% - 210

Wow. 85%, huh? That kind of surprised me. I think that the cancellation of SGA pissed people off more than TPTB expected. Not that I think that the poll carries any weight for TPTB but it's still surprising.

I finished reading Sally Malcolm's novelization of SGA's pilot Rising - "Stargate Atlantis: Rising" - and let me tell you, it's A-awesome! Sally Malcolm really understands the characters, and their inner monologues and thoughts are quite revealing and hilarious at the same time too. She nailed Jack O'Neill and John Sheppard perfectly. Their wry humor, the laid back attitude... Her McKay is convinced that the universe is out to get him, that for some reason, fate hates him personally. Teyla is a wise, thoughtful leader. And even Weir and Ford are likable! My favorite part of the book/episode is the beginning that takes place in Antarctica, when we get to see the characters for the first time and the threat of the Wraith is still far, far away. If I didn't find it silly, I would talk about the book in capslocks, I love it so much. This one will be definitely filed under "favorites" in my GR account!

And there is a really funny interview with Joe Flanigan on IGN's site (spoilery, beware!). The funny bits?

* "The one thing that strikes you as odd when you meet the actor who plays Sheppard is that either he's the perfect actor, or he's perfectly cast, because he seems to have the easy, heroic charm of a man who's looked death in the face, made a sarcastic and rather wry quip, and then gone on to save the world and himself anyway. It's quite an unnerving quality, but it's something that doesn't take long to get used to, and before long you're yapping away like chums discussing a hard day at the office – or in his case, a hard day fighting off The Wraith, Replicators and all manner of intergalactic foe that threaten Atlantis on a daily basis."
* "I'm a bit simple when it comes to watching TV, if someone's there trying to talk about something, I'm more than likely going to change the channel, but if you're watching someone getting the crap beat out of them, fighting for their life... oh well! Look at that! Turn that up! (...) I don't watch a lot of TV – I do like to buy DVDs of TV and watch that. It's the best way to watch TV. You can see it all the way through, no commercials. I like Entourage, I really like Deadwood – I would love to do a western. I don't watch Reality TV – it frightens me to the depths of my soul."

I think I would like Joe Flanigan a lot :)
