Interesting!
Jun. 1st, 2008 10:47 amI just came across an article about a new Stargate show: Stargate Universe. I know that it's old news by now, not for me though ;P
I think that it sounds awesome! I see people complaining about how Star-Trek-ish this idea is. Yes, they didn't even see it yet and they already know that it's crap *rolls eyes* Anywayz! In my opinion, it'll be great. But mostly, it'll depend on how likable the new team will be. The whole idea is very new in the SG franchise so I hope that they'll keep the standard team - one military leader, one scientist and assorted aliens and/or other specialists. I watched SG-1 for the awesome bickering between Jack and Daniel and now I watch SG:A for the same ranty ship between John and Rodney. As long as they keep this pattern, I will be a happy camper. Though it looks like they will wait with this series until Atlantis concludes its run - which I hope will take many many more years! I can't believe how much in love I'm with this show *bounces*
Oh, and since I'm already talking about how awesome Atlantis is. I watched the episode Lost Boys and listened to the commentary by Martin Gero, David Hewlett and Joe Flanigan. There was the scene in the field, where McKay stomps away, refusing to repair the dart and Sheppard goes after him to convince him to do it after all... Martin Gero, the writer, commented on the great chemistry that David and Joe have on-screen, on the warmth they radiate together. David and Joe were rather embarrassed XD
In Plain Sight starts tonight! \o/ I can't wait for that. I hope that it'll be similar to Psych: humorous but with interesting cases. USA Network is doing more and more character driven shows which is awesome in my opinion! TV critics are pretty excited too that at least someone is trying new stuff and not just mainstream over and over again :)
"The idea of Stargate Universe is that it is set on a ship that was part of an Ancient experiment that was set in motion probably millions of years ago -- one that they never saw to fruition, but that we can," Wright told GateWorld exclusively. "They got busy with the whole ascension thing."
The experiment is "to send a ship across the universe, and to send one ahead of it to seed the galaxies with Stargates, and that they would one day use the ninth chevron to get there [to the ship]. And that's what Stargate Universe is."
