The Lake House

The Lake House is hands down one of the most beautiful movies that I've ever seen. It's tender, loving and so... tranquil. There are no huge fights or upheavals, there's no adrenaline, you won't LOL like a loon. The way the relationships are portrayed, it feels almost dreamy, unreal. And it's really, really beautiful.
Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves are incredible together and it's really too bad that they haven't been in more movies together, just in this and Speed. I really love to watch their interaction, it's simply gorgeous. And their characters in this movie, they are so lonely and sad and that makes their relationship even more special. The small gestures that Alex makes for Kate, like when he spray-paints that wall in the city, thanking her for a Sunday spent together. Or when he hides her book underneath the floor in her apartment. And Kate, when she sees the picture of her lake house in the architect's office... Simply beautiful.
But I also love, truly, truly love Alex's relationship with his brother. Henry's so much younger, at least 8 years younger, and you can see that he worships his brother. The scene in which Alex tells Henry that Kate broke up with him and that he still loves her so incredibly much, that she feels more real to him than anything else in the world - Henry's almost in tears, his heart aches for Alex so much. Beautiful.
So yeah, this movie's stunning. I know that it's a remake of a Korean movie (which is based on another Korean movie which is based on an American movie, it's a real circle!) but I don't care. This film has such a calming effect on me, it's so heartwarming... Yes, it makes me very happy.
