So, Marvel plans to publish yet another X-Men off-shoot, a comic book series, I mean. What will it be about? It will reveal that not CHARLES but WOLVERINE assembled the first mutant team. WTF?! Seriously, what the fuckity fuck?!
And comic book nerds complained about how XMFC changed the X-Men history! So, first Charles was the strongest telepath - then Jean was better. He was the one who assembled the first team of mutants - and now it was Wolverine? And Magneto - MAGNETO - will work for Wolverine? ARE THEY FOR REAL?! Why not erase Charles completely from the storyline or make him just a figment of the X-Men's imagination? Grrr!
I'm sick and tired of Wolverine - he's everywhere these days, like a fungus - because he has become the Marty Sue of X-Men. What's next? Will he start shooting rainbows out of his ass too?
A new five issue limited series this August will reveal that it was in fact Wolverine who assembled the first team of mutants in the Marvel Universe. Written by Christos Gage and with art from Neal Adams, The First X-Men takes place before X-Men #1 and it sees Logan attempt to recruit both Xavier (who turns him down) AND Magneto to his team. Rather than a school, Logan will put together a team of soldiers which includes Sabretooth, Magneto, Bomb and a new female character. The series is set firmly in continuity and will feature a cameo from Namor the Sub-Mariner before he regained his memory in the pages of Fantastic Four. So, the first mutant team was put together by Wolverine (who Adams strongly hinted funded the X-Men). And who said Marvel was running out of ideas? Oh... Link.
