I didn't understand why Doctore thought that Spartacus was a man without honor. Sure, he had made some ill advised decisions in the beginning but when he became Primus, he took care of the other slaves, he taught them how to fight, he protected them as best as he could. Yes, he killed a fellow gladiator - the one he threw off the cliff - but only because the man was raping and abusing a young boy. For Doctore, the man still deserved a honorable death? Seriously? Eh. That kinda lowered my opinion of him. Sure, the ludus was his life but I absolutely didn't get him in this point.
Ah, Mira was introduced. And she helped them escape. Brave woman. And Varro's wife - I understood why she was angry at Spartacus but it wasn't like he had had any choice. She used to be a free woman, I guess she didn't really understand what it meant to be a slave with no free will. Crixus... well, I have mixed feelings regarding him. His hot head caused so much trouble for everybody. If he kept his trap shut, Naevia wouldn't have ended in the mines! And his jealousy was really off-putting!
Agron. Lovely Agron. So incredibly angry all the time. I mean, no wonder, but he obviously really needed someone like Nasir to calm him down!
And Spartacus. I loved, really loved it when he had to fight Glaber's men. His menacing look! The way he made the slavers so nervous just by looking at them, that was all kinds of awesome! And his "Kill them all!" was so dark and creepy. I loved it. When Crixus finally changed sides and sided with Spartacus, when he allowed Spartacus to jump up onto the balcony - that scene gave me the shivers! And the massacre at the very end. Wow, that was really bloody!
I'm done with S1. In the end, I fell in love with Andy Whitfield's Spartacus. Liam McIntyre is different - well, of course he is - but definitely not worse. Watching this show, I felt strangely nostalgic, knowing that Andy was dead. It's incredibly sad...
And now I'm looking forward to Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the introduction of Gannicus. And then Spartacus: Vengeance and the lovely Nasir! I can't believe I fell in love with this show - but here you have it :)
