Ed McBain's 87th Precinct: Heatwave

This movie deals with rape so it won't be everybody's cuppa. But I loved how the issue was portrayed and for the first time ever I actually saw Erika Eleniak as a really strong woman - she usually played pretty bimbos before - she was really great as Det. Burke. I loved that she could put her foot down and deal. She was in distress but she dealt with it, no rescue necessary. And even Bert - Det. Kling - her lover had to take a step back and accept that she knew how to take care of herself. That was really great.
What I loved best, though? The wonderful relationship between Steve and his deaf wife Teddy. The actors had the perfect chemistry and their characters were so incredibly lovely together. I just adored it!
Oh, speaking of Bert Kling. This character was played by Paul Johansson and seeing him here... I suddenly got this terrible craving to watch Highlander: The Raven again. I loved him as Nick Wolfe. But this is a show that I don't own on DVD and I don't plan on getting it on DVD. Why? Because of what went down BTS.
Elizabeth Gracen who played Amanda of The Highlander fame went literally nuts during the filming. She turned into this psychotic bitch and harassed everybody on the set. So the hatred between the leads, Gracen and Johansson, coupled with mediocre ratings lead to the cancellation. I hate stuff like that. It's really hard for me separate the actor from their part.
But I guess I will have to get over it, somehow, in this case because Amanda and Nick had amazing chemistry. Like BURNING! And it's just one season long. I think I have it downloaded... somewhere. And I loved the ending...
