don't be dull, be fannish

Well, that was quite a surprise, that Syfy renewed both Killjoys and Dark Matter: link. I mean, both shows pulled only 0.2 demo and barely 1 mil. viewers on average. I was sure that Syfy would dump them with these ratings. But apparently not. Huh. Where are the days when they canned shows like SGA or Eureka for pulling "only" 0.5 demo. LOL.

That means, I need to catch up on both shows. I'm 2 eps behind on Killjoys and 9 on Dark Matter. I like both well enough, the former more than the latter, but I wasn't really spellbound by either...

Dark Matter 102: I'm loving how the team is gelling together. There has never been a real animosity between them - yeah, they rub each other wrong sometimes, but never too much - and they're slowly coming together. I wonder though, what One is doing among them. I mean, the others don't have any problems with violence so he kinda sticks out like a sore thumb. Which makes me think that it was he who ( spoilers! ) I'm very interested in where this is headed!

Killjoys 101: I'm loving this show even more than DM, must be the relationships. You can sense that Dutch and Johnny like each other A LOT, just not sexually. You can feel their closeness, the way they are so worried about each other. They remind me of Jinxy and Claudia from W13, another of Aaron Ashmore's parts. And Johnny and D'Avin! Yeah, Johnny is really angry at his brother but D'Avin obviously loves his little brother A LOT. He's so protective of him. That makes me so very, very happy!

Okay, Syfy is getting both thumbs up from me for these shows! It's great to see them back on track!

The first episode of the space opera Dark Matter aired and, TBH, I liked it. I wasn't as smitten with it as with Stargate, but I'm so starved for a space based sci-fi show that I'm willing to give it a try, even though it's by Mallozzi and Mullie, you know, the fuckers who fucked up SGA so much, pardon my French. I find the characters interesting and I'm curious where it's headed. I'm especially intrigued by One. I mean, Two is the captain, Three is the gun guy, Four the close combat guy, Five the computer geek, Six the pilot... but what's One's role in the crew? Curious!
