"Some Assembly Required" by manic_intent | Charles/Erik | Alex and Hank are two teenagers who frequently fight in school. One fight gets so bad that the principal calls in their fathers for a conference. This was how Charles and Erik meet. | ~15.000

Hank might be far too smart for school, Alex realized, with a sense of awe, but Erik was devious the way only a total asshole could be devious. Sure enough, after an endless moment of dread, Erik abruptly tilted his head to the side, his eyes a little unfocused, as though listening to a voice that nobody could hear. At Alex's look of growing horror, however, Erik merely smirked, rooting in his pockets and tossing him a coin, before sauntering off, looking for all the world like a cat that had not only gotten the cream, the milk and the canary but had ripped the poor little singing fuck to shreds over a priceless carpet.

HILARIOUS! Oh my God, it's so, so hilarious.

"The Birds, the Bees, and the Bats" by Not_You | AU | Charles/Erik | Omega!Charles is teaching sex ed. | ~3.700 words

"How does Professor Lensherr deal with it?" Alex asks, and all of them look bewildered with the effort of picturing their formidable History teacher being soft in any way.

Charles laughs. "Fairly well, on the whole. He blends fresh-squeezed juices to keep me hydrated and defends me from the vile overtures of the postman."

LOL! Poor Charles valiantly trying not to blush.

"Other Crabs Cannot Be Trusted" by groovyphilia | Charles/Erik | AU | Erik is a hermit crab and proud. He is also stalking a shore crab named Charles. In which everybody in XMFC is a crab. | 8.400 words

"I think I'm being haunted," Charles was saying. A bit ironic, Erik thought, considering he was a ghost crab.

"Er," Hank responded uncertainly. "Why would you say that?"

"It's rather silly, I suppose," Charles continued, waving his claws in distress. "But I think I'm being haunted by a shell."

... Oops.

LOL! Just... LOL!

"Little Birds" by winterhill | AU | Charles/Erik | Bird AU. Erik is a lone kestrel on a mission to destroy the great golden eagle who killed his mother. Charles is an abandoned pet dove with no fear and a dream of making a place where the little birds can fly free. They don’t quite want the same thing, but together they’ll change the world. | ~36.000 words

“You’re a dove,” said Erik.

“Yes,” said Charles.

“I’m a falcon.”

“Yes,” said Charles, again.

“Forget it,” said Erik, spreading his wings into the dusk. “It’ll never work.”

Aww... Just, aww... This is seriously sweet. Charles is such a fierce dove! And Erik builds him a nest!

"Building Bridges" by ximeria | Charles/Erik | AU | When Erik met Charles, it wasn't love at first sight. It wasn't love at second sight either. Actually, it takes a hell of a lot of looking before Erik is ready to admit that maybe, just maybe, the guy's alright. | ~17.000 words

"You mentioned Alex, what is his ability?"

"Plasma rings, and his aim is... let's just say it's a work in progress," Charles said with a sigh.

Erik winced. "Alright, I can see why that might become complicated."

Such a funny story. And I just love the banter between Erik and Tony Stark. They're hilarious!

"From Westminster With Love" by thehoyden | Charles/Erik | NATO intelligence says there’s an omega-class telepath who sleeps under Westminster. Major Erik Lehnsherr is about to find out the truth for himself. | ~16.000 words

“You’d better have something to tell me about Charles,” Erik growled into the phone.

“Oh, it’s Charles now, is it?” Janos said.

“Do you want to spend the next six months quartered in an igloo?” Erik snapped.

You could say this is a slight Xover with Sherlock because Mycroft appears here as "M", the one taking care of Charles. What a lovely story! :)

"Neither Rhyme Nor Reason" by unveiled | Charles/Erik | AU | Charles liked to tell people that the first time they met, Serik punched a kitten. (Or, the one where Erik is an angry Vulcan, Charles is still a telepath, and grief still shapes their lives.) | ~8.700 words

Charles liked to tell people that the first time they met, Serik punched a kitten.

That said kitten was in fact a Caitian ensign who over-estimated his capacity for intoxicants remained — much to Serik's very logical objection — a mere footnote in Charles's favourite anecdote. But of course Charles almost always got his way. He was equal parts infuriating arrogance and breath-taking intelligence, rolled up neatly into one charming telepath.

Lovely, lovely story! I love Star Trek!

"The O(l)dd Couple" by winterhill | Charles/Erik | Futurefic, fixit, fluff. In public, Erik and Charles are immensely powerful and charismatic world leaders. In private, they're a pair of stubborn old men. | ~7.200 words

“They’re children,” said Charles. “They’re our children. I don’t want to see their privates, and I don’t want anyone else to see their privates, and I certainly don’t want to see Jean and Scott doing whatever they were doing on top of the piano in the ballroom of the Council building ever again.”

“It’s not like we’ve never done it in the ballroom,” said Erik.

“That’s different,” said Charles.

Lovely, fluffy thing! Charles and Erik bicker and banter and poke fun at each other and love each other so much you just want to cuddle them. What a feel!good fic!

One thing, though - Erik Lehnsherr. It's Erik Lehnsherr, not Lenscherr! It's bad enough when it's read English instead of German what with him actually being German, but to spell it wrong too?

"Omega" by apokteino | Charles/Erik | AU | Wherein the world decides to deal with mutants with utter segregation. All mutants are placed on Genosha, and all children are tested at birth for the mutant gene, and sent to Genosha if they have it, to be adopted by other mutants. Years later, Charles Xavier's parents bribe officials to keep their child, and he grows up utterly alone in a human world. But all that changes... | ~45.000 words

The world begins in a fog, Charles' body feeling inexplicably heavy and slow, along with his mind. He wakes in stages, becoming aware of murmuring thoughts, then the clear light of Erik's mind. He opens his eyes to a white ceiling and then manages to turn his head.

Erik is sitting beside him. "I choose you," Erik whispers.

What a great fic! I loved the world building, the description, the politics. And Charles and Erik rocked like whoa, of course :)

Merry Christmas, folks! And have this wonderful XMFC Xmas story, it's so sweet I want to cuddle it *_*

"A Very Xavier-Lehnsherr Christmas" by zamwessell | Charles/Erik | Erik is discovering new things about Charles Xavier all the time. Charles sometimes talks in his sleep. Often about food. Occasionally in Latin. Charles has a scar on his left thigh from attempting to demonstrate relativity to a girl by sitting on a hot stove. Charles doesn’t mean to be so loud when they make love, but sometimes Charles can’t help himself. | ~3.500 words

“Charles,” Erik says again.

Charles turns around on the ladder and looks down at him. “What?”

“Thanksgiving was yesterday.”

“Oh, bah humbug,” Charles says. He attempts to toss the end of the string of tinsel behind the bust. It falls and dangles and begins dragging the rest of the carefully festooned tinsel down with it. Erik almost audibly rolls his eyes and the string picks itself back up and fastens itself behind the bust. Charles grins.

Loved it! Charles' enthusiasm, his desire to learn more about Jewish traditions, Erik's loving exasperation... Aww!

"the free hugs AU" by Etirabys | Charles/Erik | AU, pre-slash | Charles is a college freshman giving out free hugs in front of Macy's. Erik is passing by. In the way, you know, Mercury is passing by the Sun. | ~3.900 words

All Charles could think of to say was "you're wearing a beanie".

"Yes," Erik said. "I am."

It was a lovely gray knit one with red zigzags. It looked spectacularly and unfairly good on him.

"It has tassels."

"Yes," Erik said again.

Oh, Charles... What a sweet little story.

"Zweiundachtzig" by Dow | Charles/Erik | AU | Erik M. Lehnsherr is a private man, a jeweler looking for a studio to work in. But floorspace in New York is limited, so he ends up sharing a space with a beautiful mutant painter named Raven. | ~22.000 words

He spots a familiar shade of blue and decides to stop ‘wall-flowering’ as Raven calls it. She’s dressed in white, her natural form contrasting stunningly. She claims that she’s getting too old to pander to the media but Erik knows that the same night the press first snapped pictures of him with Charles they had also found out his sister was a mutant as well. It had been a debacle and Charles made tutting noises for months afterwards.

Great story. Unfortunately, it needs a thorough beta, so many things are misspelled that it irks a bit. On the other hand, the story is funny and engaging and I adore the accompanying art!

"The Courtship" by dvs | Charles/Erik | AU | A story about a courtship that began five hundred years ago. | 98.000 words!!!

Erik nodded towards the bottle. “I'm not much of a wine drinker and it was just collecting dust.”

“The dust is what makes it valuable,” Louis said, showing the bottle to Charles.

Charles nodded. “Yes, absolutely. I mean, that's... quite, very vintagey. Extraordinarily dusty.”

Louis narrowed his eyes at Charles and shook his head. “It's all just plonk to you, isn't it?”

My love for this fic knows no bounds! It's so good and funny and intriguing... And did I mention funny? And LONG!

"Salt and Tears" by cathalin | Charles/Erik | Post-movie | As the world disintegrates around him, all Erik can think about is Charles. | ~2.100 words

He leans down and brushes his lips on his forehead.

Charles doesn’t stir, not even a slight movement, but Erik catches the edges of a picture: a sleeping princess, a prince kissing her cartoon lips. He looks down sharply at Charles’ face. Bone-white, blood a smear of black. Something’s still there inside, though, if he can joke like that.

What a lovely, lovely story. Sci-fi, space, an apocalypse, friendship, love... just what I love. And the accompanying art is mind-blowing!

"It's All Coming Back to Me" by regann | Charles/Erik | When Erik hears that Charles died on the beach where he left him, there's only one thing left for him to do: take the world down with him as he crashes and burns in his grief. But maybe the world will get its reprieve before he goes too far. | ~7.200 words

What a lovely story. Yes, I love angsty, ANGSTY fics with cuddly happy endings. Sue me :P

"Three Kinds of Learning" by luchia | Charles/Erik | AU | Erik intends to recruit Raven's supposedly amazing, all-powerful older brother. Instead, he finds himself dealing with Charles Xavier, a weak, tweed-addled professor who seems to think powers don't matter nearly as much as personality. | ~16.500 words

Raven is busy horrifying her brother by doing far too flexible tricks on the swings, with Charles also barely restraining himself from that stage of frustration Erik's heard from other parents in the park, that get down here this instant young lady stage. Considering Raven is climbing up the chains by wrapping them around her knees and ankles and then somehow tumbling upwards, Erik can sympathize. Erik himself is at the top of the slide with Charles and the (third?) bottle of vodka, playing a strange nameless game with Charles that seems to involve trying to whack each other in the head with the balloon while debating random subjects, so long as the subject begins with the letter D.

What a lovely, hilarious, awesome fic! At first it's hilarity pure, but then it actually gets all plotty! Fantastic!

"Linger" by waldorph | Charles/Erik | AU | Erik had been warned, to be fair. The realtor was very explicit that the last seventeen tenants had run from the premises screaming about the Exorcist or The Ring or some other terrible horror show. | ~30.000 words

“You promised not to do that,” Erik reminds her, because she did, and then she taught him how Shaw’s helmet worked, the one that locked her out. It was all metal, and Erik can block her out without looking like a dick (literally--the thing was huge and bulbous and purple and all Erik could think when Shaw wore it was that he looked like a penis).

This is funny and sweet and oh so well plotted. Though I admit it could use a good beta, especially in the second half.

"every night is another story" by gameplays | Charles/Erik | Post-movie | There is a door in the back of Erik’s mind in the shape of Charles Xavier. | ~3.100 words

Erik still feels Charles in his mind.

It’s not exactly Charles – it never will be again; the helmet and the bullet made sure of that – but there are still footprints of where Charles has stepped, light touches of Charles’ fingertips brushing against the corners of Erik’s mind, the lingering feeling of home and hope that came with the school, the children, and Charles.

Erik still hears him sometimes – laughing, teasing, pawn to e4, thinking, plotting, worrying, crying, checkmate, my friend.

I want to snuggle this fic. It's so painful and Erik's so desperate and sad and lonely... ;_;

"your head caught in a waking dream" by addandsubract | Charles/Erik | AU | In which Charles is sent to a mental institution as a child and by the time Raven breaks him out, he's irreparably damaged. | ~23.000 words

You’ve done enough, he says to them. One of them tries to cover his ears, but Charles holds him motionless, in thrall. Stop now, just stop. Stop.

He feels them go out, one and a time, like broken light bulbs, as they struggle to draw breath against a force that they don’t understand. He hears them plead, he feels their fear, and one by one they die.

What a gripping story. I really love AU stories where Charles and Erik meet in a different way and this one's excellent. And Raven is rockin' awesome too, of course!

"never too late to be who you might have been" by acetamide | AU | Charles/Erik | Erik wakes suddenly and takes a deep breath, and realises that there is nothing. | ~20.000 words

And Erik thinks of Charles, standing commanding and unyielding on the grass and watching Stryker squirm in front of him; he thinks of Charles, and the pure outrage in his voice, and is struck cold at the thought of what he might do. Charles is the most powerful telepath in the world and his powers are near-limitless, and one idiotic human was stupid enough to test them.

This is one of the best fix-it!fics I've ever read. So detailed and well plotted... I'm smitten, smitten!
