don't be dull, be fannish

Okay, my book-mania is getting out of hand. Two weeks ago, I ordered books for 90 USD. Today, it's another 60 USD... But I made a decision: No more Amazon for me, until I read all the books I ordered! I will order the next bunch as a gift to myself once I finish this semester and with that my long University attendance (8 years is a LONG time! X0)

And what books have I ordered?
Anthologies "All I Want From Christmas" and "Masters of Midnight"
"The Invisible Ring" by Anne Bishop
"Storm Front" aka "The Dresden Files, Book 1" by Jim Butcher

And before I forget - I'm dying from the cuteness that's the new Princess, Princess anime! I knew I should have bought the manga when I was in Germany! XD

Hm, and I'm thinking about buying the Sentinel DVDs... But only if there are some cool bonuses, like the blooper reels or something like that. If there is nothing like that - like on the Magnificent Seven DVDs - then I will content myself with the downloaded stuff. Although I'm thinking about buying the Mag7 DVDs anyway since there is no place where one could download the series from :(

It's been a long time since I recommended any fics in my LJ and these two deserve a lot of attention. "Just Another Day" and the sequel "Should the Angels Call" by The Traveling Dimestore Novelist are wonderful and long gen stories that focus on the characters of Chris Larabee and Vin Tanner (yeah, and what else is new in my fanfic world? ;P). They are both set in the OW universe. In the first one, Vin gets shot in the back by some men who are after Chris. He is paralyzed and the other six have to take him to Denver to a surgeon. In the sequel, Vin finds a boy in the woods who was beaten to death. That awakens the nightmares from his past and if that wouldn't be enough, he gets accused of attempted murder by his friends and so he flees...
The fics are wonderful and it's a pity that the author wrote only these two gen fics :(

Tell me, to what fandom are you completely faithful? Even though you might drift away from it, you always return and embrace all the wonderful stories there.

For me, it has always been The Magnificent Seven. And especially Chris and Vin *points at her icon* The bond they share is obvious to every fan who watched this series. Even the gen stories portray them as closer than brothers - similar to Jim and Blair in The Sentinel fandom - and to be honest, I prefer gen stories in this fandom. Without the sex in the way, they have much more time to explore their bond. When sex appears, it's all about handling the fact that they love another man. But the gen stories, especially Deidre's, are all about them and their friendship. And that I adore :)

I'm curious to hear what fandom you like best :)
