First thing first - Charles Malik Whitfield!!! Eee!
I loved how Peter poked and prodded Neal to tell them about Wilks. His "Neal!" and those pointed looks! Ha!
Peter was so worried that he went to check on Neal. And when Ryce - don't know how it's spelled - cut Neal's anklet, wow, Peter's reaction! And when he found out that Neal was the ransom from the get-go! When he called Neal and the phone went dead! And the way he yelled at Ryce in the office... And then later on, when they met at the airport, the fond look Peter gave Neal when Neal decided to stay and help the girl...
Loved Lindsay, the kidnapped girl! She had balls!
Loved Peter's expression when Neal disappeared without his anklet. Peter wasn't angry, he was just amused and annoyed. I think it showed nicely where he stands now: He doesn't think that Neal will run, not anymore. He knew that Neal would come back.
I also loved the last conversation. It showed how exasperated and actually... sad Peter is. He does his damn best to keep Neal out of trouble - he broke the law for him in Vital Signs - but Neal's so pig-headed that he just refuses to listen. And Peter knows that he can't do anything more to keep Neal out of jail. Ultimately, it's Neal's decision, no matter what Peter wants for him. And that's what their last talk was about, Peter just laid out the facts: You have something good here, don't throw it away - but if you do, I won't let you get away with it. I can't. It'll hurt us both, so don't do it! Nicely done!
Also, it made me go all "Aww..." when Peter's computer and phone pinged when Neal cut his anklet - Peter really does follow Neal 24-7! He does have stalkerish tendencies with people he likes, doesn't he?
Promo and sneak peek from 114, the season finale! Oh my, that episode will be gut-wrenching, especially the ending!

Date: 2010-03-03 03:54 pm (UTC)Reading your take on the last conversation makes it all make more sense, too. I think I would have seen it that way too if I hadn't been stuck on "if you had talked about this sooner Neal wouldn't be in this situation!" - which actually probably isn't really realistic since Neal would have wanted to do things on his own anyway.

Agreed - just watch the promo on USA with Neal making that call... *sigh* It's only a week I'll live and then it will all work out in the end!

Date: 2010-03-04 10:06 am (UTC)I think that Peter and Neal like each other too much already for something to really damage their friendship beyond repair. I mean, Peter doesn't like what Neal's about to do but he does understand his motives - and that's maybe even worse because he can't just say that Neal's completely wrong. As El told Peter in the Pilot - wouldn't he do the same thing for her? The problem is that unlike El, Kate's not worth it.
