According to JustJared, they're considering Jared Padalecki for the role of the new Conan? Wow. I mean, he's tall enough and pretty butch these days but Conan? I'm not sure I can see him in that part. On the other hand, I had my doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond and now I love him as 007. Still, I would prefer to see Jason Momoa as Conan. Boy, he would be awesome and on SGA, he has already proven that he can swing a sword like nobody's business!

Yup, Jared has got the body for it, but he doesn't emanate this... raw savagery that I always associated with Conan whereas Jason has that one down to a pat! I always swooned when he swung his sword in SGA! And Jason's now filming HBO's Game of Thrones so I think that his carreer is moving forward nicely :)

I have a feeling Jared is a much bigger star than Jason Momoa. They might not want to have a relatively unknown actor playing the main character.

Probably true. But I just can't imagine him in that role. Even at his most devious in SPN, he didn't seem really savage enough to play Conan.

I hope so too. Not that I don't wish Jared all the luck in the world, but I just don't see him swinging a sword XP

I think it realy depends on where in the serise the movie is going to be; Conan the theif was difernt from Conana the Warror and agian differnt from Conan the King.

Though in all honisty I don't want him to play Conan.

I don't wish ill on Jared but I would prefer Jason in the role. Not only would Conan have some exotic flavour - seriously, where does it say that Conan has to be the white guy of whitonia? - and Jason can exude the right air of "cunning barbarian".

I don't think that Jared emanates the right... sense of danger, something dark and savage and unleashed. Jason does though...

Exactly. Jason would be perfect for that role. And he has already proven that he can actually DO the savage warrior type and he does know how to handle a sword!

yeah I haven't read any since the 80's or so. I did used to read the comics as well. But it has been a while.
