So, the early ratings are in and it looks like SPN's are even lower than last week - viewership should be around 2.5 mil. only this week. It's... sad, to be honest.

You see, I watch several shows a week - not as many as a year ago but still it's a few. But there's no other show besides SPN that I'm so invested in. I mean, I like Castle, Bones, The Mentalist, Numb3rs well enough. I love NCIS, NCIS:LA, Psych... But I don't really... ~live~ through these shows, there's no other way to describe it.

The only other show that I felt that way about was SGA - and they canceled it last year. This year's most likely SPN's last one. And it makes me terribly, terribly sad. You see, SPN ruined me for any other brotherly relationship out there, no other show comes even close to portraying the love between brothers that way - and I mean it in a perfectly gen sense this time. It was the same way with the McShep banter on SGA - since then, I found no banter that funny.

So, when I take into consideration that SPN will most likely end (and Castle and Numb3rs are just poised for cancellation too), I feel sad, I feel like I'm losing my best friend *sigh* What will I do next year? There'll be no show left that would I feel that strongly about...

ETA: SPN's ratings are 2.57 mil., 1.2/3 demo - that's 90 thousand less than the week before and the lowest this season (even lower than OTH's preliminary numbers) but at least demo remained the same.

I was under the impression the network wanted a season 6. Jensen and Jared are signed for six, but Kripe says he is not sure storywise of that was a good idea....or am I wrong in reading about the CW wanting it since compared to their other shows, the ratings are very good.

There are several factors that speak for S6: The show is close to syndication and in such cases, syndication money is the most important thing (see ABC picking up Scrubs). They already canceled TBL and Melrose Place is doing bad too. So far, they have no other show (maybe Smallville if it got S10) that could hold its own against GA, CSI, Fringe and The Office on Thu at 9pm. And SPN's W18-34 ratings are better this year.

Yes, Ostroff wanted another season - but that was before this season started and Fringe stole a huge portion of the audience. And the ratings keep falling this season - 3.39 -> 2.80 -> 2.68 and this week it'll be barely 2.50 :(
