Supernatural 2x05+2x06+2x07+2x08

2x05, Simon Said: Cute little Andy :) But I didn't understand why Sam who was such a computer whiz had to go to Ash to look up a simple bus sign! Every library carries computers where he could have simply googled it. Nor did I like Ellen's bully attitude at the end. I mean, I like Ellen, she's pretty cool but she overstepped every boundary there.

2x06, No Exit: Yet another Road House ep. You know, marathoning the eps like this, you realize how... overused the Road House crew and especially Jo were in the first handful of episodes. This ep was actually pretty cool, the concept I mean. But by this time, I was so annoyed with Jo that I couldn't actually enjoy it. And in this particular episode, Sam was reduced to a background figure and it was mostly Dean and Jo's scenes. Not cool. And the whole "your father got my father killed and it's all your fault" attitude pissed me off, like totally.

2x07, The Usual Suspects: I liked the "mental link" between the brothers here, them basically reading each other's thoughts. After 2x06, it was great to see them "smart" again. And heh, trying to turn Sam against Dean? Like for real? Pft! ;P

2x08, Crossroad Blues: My favorite episode of these four. I loved the scene where Dean told Sam that he thought their father had made a deal for him. And then the very last scene in the car, when Sam asked if Dean meant it, if he really considered making the deal. And Dean didn't answer. Sam's look there... Great foreshadowing!

You know, truth to be told, the episodes with Jo are kinda lame. If they had used her twice or three times per season and spread the episodes out, I wouldn't have minded. But it was just too much, too soon. In S1, it was just the boys. At the beginning of S2, they threw new characters in and used them in every episode. It felt like watching a completely different show. All of a sudden, the boys didn't do their research, they always asked for help, asked for information instead of looking it up... It didn't ~feel~ like SPN.

I think they really intended to use Jo more but she didn't go over that great with the test viewings.

I can kind of understand Ellen's harsh attitude a little. I think she was semi OK with the boys until she realized that there was a pretty good likelihood that Jo's attraction to Dean would pull her farther and faster into hunting, which is something that Ellen definitely didn't want.

Sam going to Ash for info was just another way to pull the Road House crew into the plot. Jensen and Jared were so exhausted after their first season filming because they were both in practically every scene, that they were trying to insert other characters for them to act with to give them each a little time off.

I think Ellen absolutely rocks but I never warmed up to Jo. I don't care for the actress.

True, but putting the blame for something that John did on their shoulders was low.

Well, I could understand that - if we got some explanation for it. Like, if Sam got almost caught hacking something and Dean put his foot down and decided that they would use Ash since they had him on call anyway. But in one ep, they had to go to Ash for such a tiny thing, in another ep, Sam hacked a password protected computer. The inconsistency was blaring.

I like Alona Tal as a person, but Jo was... I don't know. I like Jo's "good girl from next door" better than Bela's "condescending bitch" but they just used her too much. Bela too, for that matter.

I don't get why the network keeps meddling there. First the Road House and Jo. Then Bela. Then Anna. And the result is a drop in ratings every frickin' year. And the next year they do it again! I wonder what they will push this time.

I'm not that crazy about Jo. The problem I have with her is less with the character, and more with the actress. I read that Jo is supposed to be Sam and Dean's age, but she looks like she's much younger. She's kind of the annoying little sister that wants to hang out with the older boys. An older looking actress might have been better playing Jo.

So far, my favorite episodes of S2 have been Houses of the Holy and Tall Tales.

Btw, it drives me crazy that the boys investigate crime scenes and seem to have no issue with leaving fingerprints everywhere!

I think that Jo should be Sam's age. And Alona Tal would fit that, I mean, she was in the Israeli army after all. I loved the speech that Dean gave her, that women can do the job just fine but it's no place for amateurs.

And it's so true with the fingerprints. I feel like smacking them every time I see them break in somewhere without gloves!

Oh, how did you like the ending of Nightshifter? I love Styx' "Renegade" there...

Alona Tal looks way younger than Jared, at least to me. She looked more like a teenager.

I loved the end of Nighshifter. That song was so perfect. One thing SPN does amazingly well is using music. I'm so glad I was able to download the soundtracks.
