Quote: Ostroff also hopes Supernatural will remain on the air “for a while.” Source.

On the other hand, last summer SyFy boasted how they wanted to keep SGA on air in some way - a month later, it was canceled and no news about the promised movie has been released since then. So I would take Ostroff's words with a bag of salt.

Amusingly, she also said the same thing about Smallville. I'll make a presumption she wants to keep her job "for awhile". ;-)

Hehe, SPN and SV are two of their oldest shows - but I'm afraid that both will sink this year: SPN faces Fringe and SV moves to Friday :(

I don't know about Fringe--sorry, not watching it--but I am disappointed SPN and SV were split. Smallville made a good lead-in for Supernatural. Though, Vampire Diaries is suppose to be the new lead-in for Supernatural for CW's 'supernatural Thursday'. {eyebrow quirk} Ookay.

I don't watch Fringe either but it's a pretty big hit and closer to SPN in genre than the previous show on Fox so there'll be definitely an overlap in viewers.

I don't know yet if I will be watching Vampire Diaries or not but even the critics were surprised that the pilot was actually good. It's definitely more similar in genres than SV.

Reminds me of a panel on the fantasy genre at Comic Con and how they weren't quite advocating vampire fics as fantasy per se, more like a subgenre of fantasy: supernatural (e.g. Twilight would be supernatural romance). While both fit in the subgenre of supernatural, I'm uncertain about compatible audience demographics. For example, I'm estimating Hellboy and Twilight don't attract the same demographics, even though they're both supernatural. We'll see. :-) I hope for the best.

I do enjoy HBO's TrueBlood, as politically incorrect as it can be at times, which would imply I'm not against vampire romances, but I just can't seem to get excited about teen girl angst and 'catty' gals--as hot as Katie Cassidy looked, I'll probably pass on Melrose Place, in addition to Vampire Diaries.
