Okay, now I'm angry
Jul. 20th, 2009 04:11 pmI read this article about MGM. The company's scrambling to refinance its $3.7-billion loan. And now I'm really, but really angry. Why?
MGM is the company behind the Stargate franchise. They are up to their ears in financial problems but they started filming the most expensive SG series yet - SGU - and they green-lit a 3rd SG-1 movie. And SGA? In Joseph Mallozzi's words: "There has been no official word on whether the movie is officially a go OR a no-go." For fuck's sake - yes, I'm swearing now! - when they canceled the show, they fed the fans bullshit about doing it to film movies! What a pile of crap! And don't tell me that they didn't know that they wouldn't have the money for it - the company owes billions, that doesn't happen in the course of weeks! And despite all the company's monetary problems they have enough money for every fucking thing from a new show to a final cut of SG-1's pilot but not for what they promised the fans when the show was canceled. And this time they can't shove the blame on SyFy, because as SyFy posted on Twitter: "Q) when do you think an SGA movie will air? A) We're ready to air them once MGM makes them. Not sure of their timetable."
I'm usually not this mean, but I really do hope that SGU crashes and burns spectacularly. I'm mad like you wouldn't believe it.
