... about the SGA tie-in that I started to read, James Swallow's "Nightfall".

Keller? Really? What's the author's excuse for sending a CMO on a recon trip to a possibly hostile planet? Because Sam Carter wanted it! Oh, I can so see her forcing Janet Frasier or Dr. Lam on a 'gate team, really. And I really hate Keller's "I know better what to do than Lt. Col. Sheppard" attitude! Also, I can already predict the outcome - Keller will be kidnapped, again *snorts*

I have not heard good things about thie story I fear. The cover alone should clue you in on author's likes. lol

Hope it gets better. Waiting to hear about the new one that just came out.

I wrote down some points about the book in a private post to order my thoughts, I will add it to my review later, but it's awful. Really really awful. I mean, I loved ALL the books so far, every one of them, but this is... OOC, completely. Did Swallow even see SGA? I mean, he makes the 'gate wormhole go both ways! Would you believe it?

What happened to the tried and true planet wide epidemias/medical crisis that usually lead to CMO's going whereever they are needed? Guess logcial exposition was too hard for the author.

And it's not just that. Swallow gets half the pre-set 'gate hard facts wrong - Stargate going both ways at once? - and the characters are completely OOC, doing nonsensical stuff like whoa! Example? When Teyla and Ronon are kidnapped in a ship, Sheppard, Lorne and their Marines go and look for them on foot! And they leave McKay and Keller in the village - to get kidnapped of course! It's... it's like the worst SGA ep ever!
