... not to watch Stargate Universe. And why? Among other things because of this interview with Robert Carlyle. They totally lost me at:

"What makes this Stargate different from the previous shows in the franchise is, it’s a lot darker than the other ones,” the actor said. “This has less to do with interaction with an alien race and more about survival on the ship itself.” (...)

And Carlyle’s own character won’t be another noble leader, but a man with his own, hidden agenda. “The others think that he’s maybe losing it,” he hinted. “But he does things for a reason.”

In a show with such a tone, of course, don’t expect everyone to survive as one big, happy family. In addition to the conflict between the men and women on the ship, death will certainly be present.

I'm sorry but the reason why I watched SG-1 and SGA was because the team was made of heroes, reluctant ones but heroes nonetheless. They went on adventures, they had fun, they explored. O'Neill and Sheppard were noble leaders that were ready to sacrifice themselves for their team/crew, they didn't have any hidden agenda, they didn't plot behind their team-members' backs...

All the things that TPTB use to make this Stargate "better" were why I dropped Battlestar Galactica. And since I dropped a show where I actually liked the actors/characters, I definitely won't start watching a new series with - for me - unlikable actors and characters, thank you very much :(
