My boss wants me to review Brent Weeks' "Way of Shadow" for him. I hear that it's a great book - but when you spent 7 hours a day working on a fantasy book, the last thing you need is to read another fantasy book in the evening *head/desk* Also, when it's work, it kinda takes the... pleasure out of the reading, you know?

My editing of "Child of a Dead God" is going okay so far *touches wood* But I will be glad to finish this one. Hopefully, if everything goes according to my plan, I should be done with it next Thursday *crosses fingers*

And at the moment, I'm reading Anton Strout's "Dead to Me". I see a lot of people dissing it but I like it so far! Definitely better that the agonizing "Dead Witch Walking" by Kim Harrison, that was pain and torture!

See, I'd been wondering about how your job impacts reading for pleasure, because I'm sure translating feels very different than just sinking into a book with a cup of tea and an orange, curled up for the evening. Do you feel like you read less since you began it?

But then again, you know my feelings on the Weeks book (cue squeaking noises here).

And thank goodness I'm not the only person who doesn't get "Dead Witch Walking". I could not finish that book. I could not make it 20 pages into that book. I just kept wanting to slap the heroine. Which is generally considered a bad sign.

I think... I think I read the same. Internet had a much bigger impact on my reading than my work. But I did change the genre. I used to read a lot fantasy stuff, elves, dwarves etc. Now not anymore. It would be just too much.

I think I will try at least 100 pages of Weeks' books and we will see. But not until I finish Strout's book.

I just couldn't understand what people like about Harrison's books. The main heroine is dumb like a lamp post and so full of herself! I mean, the 50+ pages she spent in a mink form almost broke me.

Oh yes, she snuck into the bad guy's office in a mink form, the guy caught her and then kept her in a cage in his office. You could literally hear me roll my eyes.

If I had made it to that part, oh that book would have been airborne SO FAST...

Btw, you have totally got me with GoodReads. Le sigh.

I am currently setting up my account over there. The only hard part is trying to decide whether to abandon my listology booklists entirely, or migrate five years worth of data, or...some other amorphous option that does not involve me updating three separate websites every time I finish a book. Two's quite enough.

Yes, I am LOVING GoodReads. GoodCall on recommending it.

And the crowd goes wiiiiiiiild! Another person won over *pumps fist* I like GoodReads better than LibraryThing (or whatever the name is) because it looks much... neater! \o/
