Obama

I don't usually talk about politics in this journal but I see people talking about Obama and how excited they are about his election - and it is a great, amazing thing, that's for sure!

But what I hope for? Only one thing - that he abolishes the "don't ask, don't tell" policy and any other persecution of gay people in the US armed forces. That's the only thing that I want from him, I want him to make it possible for homosexuals to openly serve their country without needing to hide what they are. Everything else is up to the people themselves. You can't make them accept gay people but you can force them to abide the law and give homosexuals the same protection that other minorities enjoy in the society.

So, yes, that's all I want from him. But call me a cynic or a pessimist but I don't think that it'll happen any time soon. I lay my rose glasses aside a long time ago where this case is concerned. Unfortunately. Please, Mr. President, prove me wrong.

Well, considering his press secretary gave the answer "Yes" to the question on whether they were going to repeal DADT... I think chances are good he will.

Awesome! \o/ I just hope that when it will come down to making compromises, this won't be one of the things that Obama will have to let slide... Me a cynic? Naaah ;P
