I started reading Matthew Reilly's "Ice Station" and let me tell you, it so reminds me of SGA! It takes place in Antarctica where a polar station discovers a space ship underground. And the rescue unit, Marines, sets out from McMurdo, being led by a man who is consider to be too young for actual leadership - so, it's all there: Antarctica, a space ship under the ice, a too young leader... Awesome! \o/

Also, why does Amazon keep discounting The Arc of Truth and Continuum BluRay but not Continuum itself? It's rather frustrating! /o\

I love Matthew Riley! His books are the most widely-read of anything by teenage boys, outstripping even HP. Takes a special kind of magic to get that happening.

So far, I love the "team spirit" of the book. I mean, that's what draws me to shows like SGA, SG-1, NCIS... But it's really hard to find books like that.

I used to like David Morrell's books, but then he started to get too... literary for me and the fun was gone from his books :(

Hi, totally love Reilly too, so had to comment :) When you are done with Ice Station, you might consider Area 7 and Scarecrow. They are just as good and action packed...

Hey there! Feel free to drop in any time ;)

I ordered Area 7 but I'm not sure if it's still available here in the Czech Republic. I know that I can order it from Amazon but I want my mum to be able to read it - she loved Ice Station - and she doesn't speak English. But they do have Scarecrow and The Seven Sacred Stones (or something like that ;P).

I have the same thing with my mum, (only in Danish...) She read Seven Ancient Wonders, and now she won't let me by the sequel, because it isn't out in Danish yet...
I made her read Ice Station, but it's not really her thing, she did say that she liked it though... :)
