Someone just tried to reset the password to my LJ account! What the heck! Hey, unknown person, this is my LJ, go away now, please!

Change your password to something more complicated, ASAP.

My password was already over 10 characters long and it had numbers and letters but I changed it anyway. Better safe than sorry, right?

Perhaps it was someone with a super similar username, who typoed something and couldn't figure out why their password didn't work? I prefer it to the various plausible creepy theories.

Yeah, it's possible. But I still changed my password just to be sure. Fortunately, LJ's system is quite bullet-proof in these cases :)

Run a virus scan immediately, it's possible you have a keylogger somewhere on your comp. Also, go to your settings and check what email accounts are able to access your account. Hotmail has been recycling inactive email addresses, so if there's a hotmail you don't use anymore anad somebody picks that up, someone could use that hack your account.

I run a scan every day, just to be sure, and there's no virus on my comp. And I have only one addy associated with my LJ account and it's not hotmail. Hm, it's weird, really. I can see someone mistype their password but to mistype their LJ name too, that's too much of a coincidence.

That sucks. I'm glad they weren't successful.

Me too. I mean, it can be a coincidence in similar names but these days, I'm paranoid.
