I finished watching Firefly. I loved the setting, I loved the characters but it felt... I don't know, like it really didn't live up to its potential. Instead of all the Safron episodes I would have preferred to see more of the Reavers because those were really, really scary. I mean, I know that this show had aired only few episodes before it was canceled but still, it felt like there were too many filler episodes that really didn't move the story forward.

The characters. I loved Vash and Zoë, what a great couple! I adored the doctor, Jayne was quite a hoot and Kaylee was pretty cute. Though River got on my nerves after a while with her crazy. The Companion was hot (especially the lesbian scene). Mal was quite cool, funny and very protective of his crew, but I still kinda don't understand the fans' obsession with Nathan Fillion *shrugs*

The best guest star? Richard Burgi! Oh my gosh, the man is so hot!

I will be getting the series on DVD for sure because I liked it but... hm, I still don't get what the Firefly hype is about, to be honest *ducks flying dishes*

Did you watch the feature film, Serenity? Because it deals with Reavers more.

And heh, funny, River was actually my favourite character. :)

Nope, I didn't see the movie yet. I don't have it. I think I will first get the show on DVD and then probably the movie too. I'm a collector ;)

I think I liked the doctor best. He behaved awkwardly but at the same time, he really was a mastermind - he planned the hospital theft perfectly!

I love Firefly, but I also don't get the scale of the hype over it. I think it could have been great, if it hadn't been cancelled when it was, if Fox had treated it better when it was on the air, if it had been given time to establish itself and really explore the characters and their universe. As things stand, it is just 14 episodes of potential, more than anything else.

I do recommend watching the film, which pays off more than one of the loose threads left dangling by the cancellation.

I will definitely buy the film. A friend of mine wants to give me the show on DVD as a Xmas gift so after I watch the remaining eps that are DVD only, I will buy the movie :)

I think that fans are, in most cases, more hyped over what could have been than over what they really saw - I've encountered many fans like that in the SPN fandom where they were so excited about what Bela Talbot could have been than what she really was on the show.

Did you manage to watch the episodes in the order they were meant to run in, or the order in which they aired? Fox insisted on airing them out of order, which meant that the continuity being carefully built into the show was completely destroyed. On the DVD, however, they are ordered as they were meant to be.

I have no idea. I downloaded them so probably in the order that Fox aired them *ponders* But it did make me wonder why River was crazier than she should have been, suddenly O.o

Ah. Wait till you get the DVDs and can watch the episodes in order - River's development really doesn't make any sense when viewed the Fox way. *rolleyes*

The last episode, Objects in Space, is a pretty important River episode, but I don't think Fox ever aired it, the idiots.
