One minute I'm watching the olympic opening ceremony and everything is nice and dandy and then this: "An international express train has crashed into a collapsed bridge in the Czech Republic, killing at least six people and injuring dozens." Oh my god! The bridge just fell down on the rails 300 meters in front of the train that was going 140 km/h. The engine driver had no way to stop the train and ran right into it with full speed. It's one of the worst railway accidents in the modern history of the Czech Republic *shudders*

So true. A friend of mine should have been on that train but in the last moment, she decided not to go *shudders*

Oh, heck, that's awful. The poor people and their families. My condolences for them all.

It is, it is. I don't know what's going on these days. Just a few months ago, two trams crashed together in my town with many deaths, now this. But as they said, as awful as it may sound, the tram accident prepared everybody for this catastrophe :(

*hugs back* It's really horrible. But the engine driver did a great job, nonetheless. He managed to get the speed of the train down from 140 km/h to 90 km/h in just 300m. That was a small miracle.

Exactly my reaction. But everybody was praising the accomplishments of the rescue workers. They managed to get everyone out of the train in under two hours even though they had to basically cut the train apart.
