Ronon and John

You know, when I started watching Stargate Atlantis, I did it because of the awesome, awesome John/Rodney banter. Those two are simply hilarious together. And I still adore their bickering to pieces, really. But...
Seeing the direction SGA's S5 is taking, there are fewer and fewer John/Rodney scenes that the McShep slashers could swoon about. Especially with the whole Keller romance thing that popped up in 4x20 is now going pretty strong. I know that McShep slashers despair about that...
I'm not really happy about that either. On the other hand, I've become a huge fan of the John/Ronon scenes, viewed as gen or slash, don't really care. Ronon is so protective of Sheppard, raging like whoa when he's taken or hurt - Common Ground anyone? And lately, there've been so many terrific scenes between those two: Outcast, Search and Rescue, Broken Ties...
And that brings me to Outcast. One of the best SGA episodes ever! There were so many great things in that one ep!
- Rodney coming to Sheppard, apologizing for not being able to accompany John to John's father's funeral.
- Ronon just showing up at the gate with "I'm coming with you."
- Dylan Neal playing John's older brother Dave! How awesome, awesome is that? *bounces* And Dave wasn't really a jerk, he just didn't know what to think of John. And isn't that awesome that John has an older brother! *bounces some more*
- Kari Wuhrer playing John's ex-wife Nancy! She was actually pretty cool. Beautiful, smart and still liking John very, very much :)
- Ava rocked my socks! I really do hope that they will bring her back. Maybe as a program that sneaked into Atlantis' main computer? Then we could have a sentient Atlantis!
- "Civilian contractor!" Mwahaha! I bet Dave thought that Ronon was John's boyfriend. That would fit pretty nicely with the whole estranged thing.
- John comes from money!!! The house was beautiful!
- Ronon all worried about John. He's a man of few words but the looks he kept giving John. Aww...
- Dr. Lee! He was so much fun. And Bates! Bates being really sympathetic!
- The two shoot-outs were awesome.
- And the last scene with John and Dave. Aww...
And it wasn't just the ep, but the commentary by Andy Mikita and Alan McCullough too! One of the best audio commentaries ever.
- I loved how they talked about the plot being Joe Flanigan's idea and about Joe working with the writers on Sheppard's background too.
- Joe F. had to buy Andy a bottle of scotch because Andy managed to get him on his 5pm flight home despite their workload - and Jason Momoa kept reminding Joe of the scotch he owed Andy XD
- It was Andy who got Dylan Neal to play Dave Sheppard. Andy knew Dylan from Blood Ties and asked him if he would be willing to play this part :)
- Everybody enjoyed themselves tremendously filming this ep! X)
So yeah, this rambling actually does have a point - I won't mind Rodney romancing Keller much, as long as we get more awesome John/Ronon scenes out of that *nods*
