The Mentalist, pre-aired pilot

katikatI just watched the pre-aired pilot of The Mentalist. And let me tell you, it made me very very happy! Sure, it sounds a bit like a serious version of Psych - the main hero has refined his observations skills to a near perfect level and lends these skills to the CBI to help them solve cases - but it's a much darker, more case-oriented show...
For me, this show rocks because of Simon Baker who plays the main character, Patrick Jane. There's just something very likable about him. He makes you adore him in the first five minutes! Another great addition to the cast is Robin Tunney playing Special Agent Teresa Lisbon, basically Patrick's boss. The other three members of the team are very likable too :) What I love is how the whole team is very protective of Patrick who often has to face distrust and even mocking because of his observation skills and he's also the target of the serial killer Red John that killed his wife and daughter.
So, to sum it up - a great, great series! Great cast, awesome characters and interesting mysteries. Give it a try, folks!
