Okay, this will make some people cheer, other people pissed
And me really worried what else we gonna lose/have reduced if money is that tight. Effects, location shoots, heck even new sets for motels and stuff. And I guess goodbye music anyway. Oy oy oy.
Oh yes, and I can already hear the bitchin' fest, how Kripke is a loser for giving in to those jealous bitches who hate female characters in general. There is a wank in the air *head/desk*
You know, as long as we get a lot of Sam and Dean, I really don't care :)

Oh dear. With him professing in the midst of hundreds of raving fangirls that "tough, Ruby would be staying" and the very sudden, unexpected announcement the actress has been let go, I don`t see the slightest reason to doubt the explanation he gave: money. But I guess wank and our Earth logic don`t mix. *g*

I just hope that the Bela!fans will now accept that it was, at least partially, a business decision, money!, and not just a reaction to fans' dislike...
LOL, after all my determination to avoid casting spoilers, I wandered into a general conversation thread on a forum I moderate, and this was just sitting there un spoiler-tagged! So I've seen the spoiler, and honestly...I found that I don't really care, either way!
It's a shame about KC losing her job, although I've tended on the whole to feel that she doesn't quite have the experience to pull the character off as effectively as it could be. However, this doesn't mean that the character of Ruby is necessarily gone for good - just that if she does manage to haul herself out of wherever Lilith sent her, she won't be using the same body again. And won't be a regular recurring character. She could still pop up once or twice using other bodies.
It might be nice if she does, to iron out some of the loose ends of her storyline, but I don't feel there is too much missing if we never see her again. We know enough of the gist to be able to guess at her overall plan: that she wanted to gain control over Sam and his abilities in order to pick up the threads of the YED's plans and thus position herself as top dog in the demon hierarchy. And since we know that Lilith drove her out of the body that we saw dead at the end of the finale, it isn't as if we are going to be left wondering where the heck she is next season, as we have with Ellen (and Jo)!
My main reaction is anger that the CW really is treating SN so badly - reducing the budget, never advertising the show. It's one of their strongest shows, and yet they seem determined to sabotage it. Grr.
To be honest, I didn't know how to post this entry. Is it a spoiler if they cut out one whole character? (that's already dead according to S3 finale anyway) I'm never sure how to write spoilers and what's a spoiler and what's not *head/desk*
I just hope that this show will go on on this reduced budget for another two years. I hope that less money means more character development and less gore. Shadows are cheaper than buckets of fake blood ;)
But they didn't actually say she was dead, right? They just had Lilith leave the body. I know when a demon is exorcised it usually means the body dies, but Lilith left on her own. So the body might still be alive.
I think that they can't. I mean, Meg also died when the demon left her body and Bobby said something along the lines too, so... I think it's pretty much established that the demon can knit the body and hold it together as long as it's inside it... But don't quote me on that XP
Oh. K. Interesting. I wonder where Lilith sent Ruby. Did she send her back to Hell, or away into someone else's body? Is there like a Limbo for demons? Maybe she's like floating around in the Congo or something? Trapped in a piranha? Heeee. Or one of those penis fish? *gigles manically* *says 'penis' buncha times cuz is five* Penis Fish Ruby FTW! *runs*
The scary part is I can actually see that as an ep. Lilith sends her into some like Amazon lake or something. We hear Ruby hearing a voice over of Lilith saying she can't possess anything like demons are wont. So she waits until something comes up to eat the floatsam and gets into a fish. Then she waits, biding her time until some clueless tourist pees in the water and swims up, possessing him. Then she bitches about being a dude. After some of the things they've done on the show, I can totally see them having a fish go up a dudes thing! You know, they can cut from the fish going up his short leg to his face as it goes in and then see his getting possessed, straitening up, assuming Ruby posture. Something like that.
Well, it's a regular character (albeit of the recurring variety) leaving the show, so I'd consider that a casting spoiler, yes. Even though she looked dead at the end, since she was contracted as a regular, and the character was a demon, and the show is supernatural, the expectation would be that she would be returning. So...yeah.
I'm torn. On the one hand, a tight budget should lead to, as you say, tighter storytelling and more character focus. But on the other hand it also leads to cheaper set design which means less detailed shots (camera techniques, whatever they are called) and less classic rock. Etc. So...yeah. I'm torn.
Hehe, I did like her but I'm not terribly upset to see her go... If it came down to her or Bobby, I would keep Bobby any time. And I guess that it did come to a similar decision who to keep and who to let go.
Oh yes, I think I'd be more upset if they suddenly announced that there'd be no Bobby next season. Actually I don't think they'd dare not have Bobby. He's so immensely popular that there'd probably be a riot if he was suddenly killed off or something.
I'm also thinking that maybe they want to redirect the money they would have spent on KC toward bringing Rufus back. I certainly wouldn't say no to that if they did!
I wasn't that big of a fan of Ruby, but I certainly didn't want her cut from the cast. I thought she brought a lot to the show and I was curious as to how they would bring her back. I guess I know the answer now. haha
I liked Ruby and Katie too but I think that Ruby served her purpose and besides, it would be unrealistic to get her back since Ruby is in hell and the body is dead (I wondered how they would do that) - well, unless Sam summoned Ruby from hell and into the dead body, that is :P
Bela's death was kind of like a last minute thing. There was nothing that led up to it. In my opinion, it was almost like they were told "hey, you need to lose a character" and so they were like let's kill Bela off in the next episode. I didn't like that too much.
I'm interested how they are going to get Dean back into his body. Where is his body?! haha
Well, you said "unless" so I will answer this - yes, they are getting rid of her. She won't be in S4 at all. I hope that you won't get angry with me for spoiling you.
