Ratings Slip Threatens CW Network: "Increasingly, people in the industry are asking whether this coming season is the CW's last chance. One person close to the situation confirms that without significant progress in the next year, at least one of the network's owners is likely to abandon the venture."

and

The Demise of the CW Could Be Near: "The Wall Street Journal says if ratings don't perk up, the CW could fold as soon as next year."

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! But what did they expect when they started targeting 18-34 women only? Let's hope that the network keeps limping for at least two more years for Kripke to finish his 5-year-plan - and that the CW renews it for its 5th season *crosses fingers*

I'm trying to look at this in a postive light. I have a feeling that 'one of the owners' they keep talking about is Warner and even if Warner TV hasn't done well this year - I think Warner did OK over all (I mean considering everything) and I hope that if CW folds WB will return.

everything has been a misstep since then anounced the merger - I mean really, if you merge two networks wouldn't you give the power to the stronger network?

I'm trying to stay positive too. And even if the network folded next year, we would still be luckier than for example Moonlight fans who only got 16 episode before cancelation.

true - but I have to say I want all five seasons - I am selfish.

If the worst did happen, I wonder if Supernatural would be picked up by one of the parent networks, or another one entirely? It's not unheard of, although I'm now picturing Krikpe planning another one of those ambiguous season endings that will tie things up nicely just in case there is no number 5.

I think that Kripke knows that his series is on the bubble every year so he tries to write every finale in a way that it could also serve as a series finale. Which is really wise from him. Though I don't think that any other network would pick it up. It's not mainstream but a cult show and that doesn't draw in many viewers in general.

Whenever I come across stuff like this, it really makes me worry. I hope the network survives long enough for Kripke to get his five years, too.

Exactly the way I see it. I want for our show to have its 5 years. Then I really don't care what will happen. There aren't any other shows that I'm interested in on the CW anyway.
