Oh LJ, really
Mar. 13th, 2008 10:01 amLiveJournal doesn't allow its users to create new Basic accounts anymore. Without mentioning it in their news because obviously, it doesn't concern their old users. Right. I have a paid account and I have no intention to create another LJ - I have an IJ as a back-up - but still. It's the camouflaging and tip-toeing and hiding that's pissing me off! Why can't they state, simply and clearly, that Basic accounts are not profitable enough anymore? Why all the hush-hush?
Obviously, I need one of those wanky LJ pencil icons because they really do crazy things more and more often *shakes head*
Reading the paranormal anthology "On the Prowl", featuring authors like Patricia Briggs or Eileen Wilks, I realized one thing - I hate submissive, fragile heroines!
Like in Briggs' "Alpha and Omega". I had high hopes for this short story because it starts a new series about Charles and Anna but... Charles is awesome. Anna's a whimpering, fragile thing that Charles needs to protect. OMG that's so overrated. Kick ass, girl, fight and yell and when someone smacks you, hit them twice as hard!
I so hate simpering frail flowers! Spine-less jelly-fish, really X(

Date: 2008-03-13 02:44 pm (UTC)I don't mind them getting rid of the Basic account feature. But I intensely dislike the fact that they didn't bother to announce it at all, hiding it under the "and other changes" line in their announcement. I think that such a huge change, getting rid of one whole type of account, should have been announced clearly. This way it seems like they are trying to sneak it under the old users' noses. And they look like idiots now because they were caught red-handed.

Date: 2008-03-17 02:43 am (UTC)http://news.livejournal.com/106909.html, but apparently LJ has also been censoring the most popular interests list. They have removed yaoi, bisexuality, fanfiction, porn, bondage, depression and a few others from the list. You can still search for them but those interests no longer appear on the list. I wonder what other surprises they have in store for us. I heard rumors awhile ago that LJ wanted to do away completely with fanfic and fandom in general. Maybe there is some truth to it.
