So, I've been pondering last night's ep a bit and I have a spoilery question...

The demon!Dean basically said that Dean is John's copy, pretending to be like John. Dad's music. Dad's leather jacket... So, if you take all of John's out of Dean... What will remain? What IS he like in reality? Does he like to bake cupcakes and grow flowers? Does he actually hate guns and hunting in general? Would he prefer teaching? Building robots? Selling herbs?

Tell me, if you took away John's influence, his traits, what do you suppose Dean would be like?

Oh, and the bad ratings? Sorry, but this time, it's all the fans' fault, not the network's even if it would feel so good to blame the CW. Why? Just go to the comms, read the comments and see for yourself. "I like SPN but I watch Lost. I like SPN but I prefer watching Lost. Why bother watching SPN when there are only two eps left and then the spot will go to Reaper?" So if the show tanks, the fans can blame only themselves...

I've alwasy figured that when you get down to it Dean was more like Mary in temprement. It's just his need to please John that makes him like John.

On the other hand as his basic self Sam is much more like John - and that's what casues a lot of the friction between Sam and John.

I think that it would be interesting to read a "five times" fic about what Dean would be like if he wasn't so like John...

yeah that would be interesting. I think he would be kinda and sensitieve and loveing and filled with faith - the things that we have been lead to beleve Mary was.

Oddly enough I think Sam would still be obstanant and obsessive and still (when you get down to it) be very "John" in temperment. Mary would ahve always said "Sam you are Just liek your father" and Sam always would have said "I'm nothing like him! I hate him!"

I also think Dean would have been John's favored child and Sam Mary's

I think, at the core level, Dean is still Dean. Also, at a certain point, Dean actually became John.

I think that maybe he would be less out-going. His out-there-ness sometimes feels a little bit manic, like he needs to compensate for... something. I think that it would be a great five-things fic. "Five Different Deans" or something like that :)
