... here! Spoilers, beware!

What caught my interest and bothered me the most...

Kripke on Bela:
... but I think we need to push a little harder, we have to do a better job muddying up the character, making her human and real to the audience.

Beware, Kripke! Push hard enough and what didn't bend will break! It bothers me that he was ready to kick out Jo based on the fans' negative response but instead of doing the same with Bela, he wants to "humanize her" *rolls eyes* You wanted a bitch? Keep her a bitch! Don't give us a doozy back-story, really.

Kripke about the "bright look" of S3:
It was very intentional. We wanted to create a more dramatic contrast between the "real" world, in which we all live, and the "secret" supernatural world that exists just beneath the surface.

I think that this experiment definitely failed, at least IMHO. I miss the dark and blue atmoshpere of S1. The only thing lacking in S3 are blooming flowers and bunnies hopping around, really. It's a horror show, not some afternoon special!

Though what I do like is how confidently he talks about "we will do this and that in S4", like S4 is a done deal already.

As i remember, i think there were more Jo haters than Bela haters.

Nya, I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even Kripke noticed the fans' "seemingly negative fan reaction". He will get more of that if he tries to convince us that Bela is, in fact, just misunderstood, not sociopathic, selfish and overall crazy. Yeah, and the YED just had some "issues", he wasn't evil *snort*

I think he described the problem with Bela without even realizing it, all "we in the writer`s room had so much fun with her and she is so smart and snarky and resourceful etc". They seem to have fallen for some idea how great that character is and how great they must make her look when the audience comes in from the position of caring about Dean&Sam and not enjoying seeing them put down by some smarmy bitch who gets away with it on top of that.

Also the "she isn`t a love interest anytime soon" made me have nervous twitches. She is trash as a person, therefore she is much beneath the brothers. Keep that in mind please. Urgh.

Yeah, that "anytime soon" got me too! I mean that means that they already plan for her to be a love interest. And thus I must say once more - Kripke is a lying liar who lies. He swore up and down that the girls were NOT love interests! I like Kripke, he is his own biggest fanboy but lately, he contradicts himself so much...

It's also pretty much obvious that no matter the fans' opinion, Bela is there to stay and that makes me quite NOT happy.

I don't think there's anything that will make me like Bela more, because I don't like the actress that much. Like, some people say they'd like Ruby if she wasn't played by Katie Cassidy. I'm like that with Bela. And then there's just that I plain don't like her character, lol. XD

I don't want her to continue being a bitch. But I also don't want some sad sob story from her. I don't know what I want! Honestly, I think her character (for me) is just beyond help. Some people just don't like certain characters and nothing will fix that.

I think that the Bela character is over-done in every regard. It's like the writers just sat down and brainstormed about what an ideal woman should be like, then just took the best features and mixed them together. She is beautiful, smart, intelligent, educated, rich, has a great apartment, a sports car, can shoot and never breaks in sweat. She is a walking, talking wet dream of a pimpled teenage boy, really.

But I just don't like her. I don't like to hate her. I JUST hate her. I hate women who have to prove their own worth by degrading every man around in fear of being proven immature and whiny. And her oh so tearful back story involving killing a family member, I will break in tears... of disgust.

And I don't like Lauren Cohan. She totally put me off when she started spouting about how fans would adore to see Bela and Dean as a couple. I hate the way she talks and how she bulges her eyes. She's just too affected for my liking. Out of her mouth, everything sounds fake :(

I think Kripke misses the point with both Jo and Bela, by a narrow margin of a standard barn. I actually liked Jo, her being pretty and blonde but meeting Dean in a time all he thought of was family and so ending up as his little sister. I liked the "wanna be big and tough and hunt stuff!". It was cute. Set her apart from all the other girls and, for me, worked.

I also quite like the idea of Bela. Seriously, that's a cool concept for a series that's in no small part about evil - human evil brought us one of the best episodes, i.e. Benders. So yeah, I'm all for thief of supernatural objects who only cares for the money they fetch. Personally, no sob past will save her for me, she is evil, end of story.

The problem, I think is that they are trying to hard. They were told they need a girl on the show, likely, which must suck.

Yeah. It's pretty obvious that Bela should have been just another one-ep girl. But they turned her into super-pretty, super-cool, super-rich, super-intelligent, super-smart, super-sarcastic, super-stylish Mary Sue. I bet that the writers just sat down and did some brain storming about what the ideal woman should be like. Oh, and she should one-up every man she comes across too.

As Dirk Benedict said about the new Starbuck (in my previous entry) which also fits the Bela character strangely - such character in a male form would be called a chauvinistic pig and would never be allowed to even exist. A character like that can work only in a female form these days. When a woman calls a man idiot, it's okay, she's smart. When a man calls a woman idiot, he's rude and chauvinistic. When a woman shoots a man, she has style. When a man shoots a woman, he's bigoted and who knows what else.

This is what bugged me about his response about the girls...

Because she wasn't going to be a love interest anytime soon, I thought we were adding a fun foil for the boys.

So, is this saying she IS going to become a love interest?

Exactly! So either she is a potential love interest or she isn't a potential love interest. She can't be both, not really, not on this show. Or to say it in another way, he can't say one thing today, another thing tomorrow. It feels like he would say anything to just shut the fans up.

I would take Jo over Bela any day. He needs to just do away with her.

Me too. I liked Jo as Dean's little sister. I think that their relationship was quite refreshing once they stopped trying to force them together no matter what. Though it's funny that every season, they try to find a love-interest for Dean. Why not Sam? Why always Dean? O.o It's like someone has a one-track minded.
