Poll and Supernatural vs. Buffy

So, you feel like reading a book, a romance to that *g* And there are two of them lying on your table and you know that both of them are excellent, cream of the crop! But! One of them is a gay romance, the other is het. What book would you choose?

It annoys me that people compare Supernatural to Buffy. Supernatural is urban fantasy, real - is it an oxymoron? XD - ghosts and creepies that you can find on the net or in chronicles, it's mostly filmed outside and it has a really small cast. Buffy had cartoonish demons with funny names, most of it was filmed in studios and it had a huge cast. Supernatural is horror/thriller aimed at mature audience, Buffy was a fantasy teenie show, especially in the first seasons and they kept adding teeny characters to keep teenagers interested. The only thing these two series have in common are demons and that's it. That's like comparing William Shakespeare to Walter Scott. Sure, they were both English writers *rolls eyes*

From the network`s side SPN is supposed to be a teenybopper show like everything else yet it attracts a more mature audience. Buffy while dealing with teenage protagonists attracted a more mature audience too. I was well into my mid- twenties when I was a huge, huge fan of it.
Everything else however is comparing apples to oranges, ensemble vs. buddy show, monsters as metaphors vs. urban legends, camp factor vs. gritty realistic touch. I don`t consider either one superior but it`s not to be compared.
I think the recent comparisms only arose because SPN seems to go more into Good vs. Evil large scale battle apokalypse as the over-arc the way Buffy did.
Still the formula doesn`t fit. It`s still more X-Files with standalone and arc. Only the X-files had aliens, SPN now has demons.
