You know, something that [livejournal.com profile] lostandalone22 said made me wonder. I always considered comments to LJ entries a public thing (like posts in a mailing list). If I wanted to keep them private, I would screen them. But now, I'm not sure what my friends think. Do you mind when other people read comments to your own entries in your own LJ? Do you consider them a personal thing, a private conversation that nobody should read?

I'm just really curious...

Hehe, thank you for voting at all. It just makes me really curious and I don't want to step on anybody's toes in the future :)

Sometimes, i'm careless with the spoilers and never think that some non spoilery fans may read the comments.

I don't really think about it. I have a locked LJ, so only friends can read the comments. I don't mind if friends read every comment made in my LJ. I also don't mind if a couple people carry on a conversation with each other in my LJ.

I don't care if folks read comments; I was just saying that they were talking and not thinking that you were reading them.

I don't mind at all. Plus, being a member of a couple of 'groups of friends' on LJ, we quite often comment on each other's comments; I always think it's pretty fun, actually :-)

I'm between 2 and 3, but voted 3. I'm with you. When I don't want people to read the comments, I screen them. Or make the post filtered so only a very small group can see it. Or move the conversation to email. :)

We must be positive not only for one show but for everything in life no matter how many bad days we may have.

Probably. But I have had some troubles with spoilers in the past - a girl that I thought a friend called me a bitch because I didn't label the entry clearly enough. Since then, I'm really careful about that. It was very hurtful and I don't want to go through it again :(

Not sure if I will say anything new. But I think when you want something personal, you lock the post. When you are sharing something that can be public, you post it as public. So the comments should be the same. I do not see this being an issue, since locked posts are not so public anyway. Hmmm... is it understandable what I want to say? Why to screen when posting public? Anyway, owner of the journal can manage the comments if the discussion becomes too personal. Huh, now lets get to bed, a storm is coming.

I rarely screen comments (only if they give me personal info like addresses) because it's a bit of a hassle going back to re-screen the comment when you replied to them. I feel comfortable enough with my flist to talk about things, so if other people want to read it (and put in their opinion), it's more discussion and good for me to keep me thinking. ^_^

Would you believe that I never screened comments and that I use locked entries only very rarely? I have nothing to be ashamed of! *nods*

I understand perfectly because I have the same opinion. If I don't want people to read what I or my friends have to say, I lock the entry! *nods*
