Of books, movies and DVD stuff
Jul. 10th, 2007 10:04 pmI usually go to the cinema to see action movies. I went to see Casino Royale and 300 and I loved both to pieces. I wanted to go and see Shooter too but CineStar's airing hours for this movie were insane! And I also plan to go and see Transformers. They should start showing it hear next week *crosses fingers*
I would never go to the cinema to see a romantic comedy or something like that. For stuff like this, the small screen is enough. But movies like Speed or The Mummy, you have to see them on the big screen to enjoy them fully. The action feels much... action-er (sheesh! :D) when you see it in the cinema. It just rocks.
And I'm also more willing to buy movies that I saw in the cinema first on DVD. I already bought Casino Royale and I plan to buy 300. I would never buy a movie on DVD that I didn't see first.
It's the same with TV shows. I may download them illegally, but I plan to buy them on DVD then - if I like them that is. I bought Eureka and Psych, I pre-ordered The Dresden Files and Supernatural and maybe I'll succumb and buy Bones too - Booth and Brennan are just too cute for words! The only show that I have no intention to buy is Heroes. It's not bad but to see it once was enough for me.
And since I'm talking about Eureka, I watched the Pilot with the commentary by Colin Ferguson and the producers. They are such a funny bunch. They explained how every one of the actors came to be on the show and they promised us more Chris Gauthier aka Vincent (for Supernatural people, it's the Mandroid guy from Nightshifter) in season 2 which makes me incredibly happy.
And I also love action books - though I need them more character-oriented. And when I say action books, I mean for example David Morrell and his "The Fifth Profession" or Eric van Lustbader and his "Ninja". Amazing stuff that simply forces you to read into the wee hours of morning.
Though my most favorite books still remain "The Ukian Oregon" series by Wen Spencer and "Moon Called" and "Blood Bound" by Patricia Briggs. For my new friends: You should have seen me a couple of months ago - Ukiah Oregon was the only thing I talked about, heh!
So yes, this entry was actually pointless :P
