a) When people rate episodes on TV.com that haven't even aired yet! Today's episode of Supernatural has been already rated 9.1 by three people. How can they know what the episode is like when they didn't see it?! I thought I wouldn't like the ep "Nightshifter" from the preview and then I loved it to pieces, really. Stuff like that gives the shows bad rep X(

b) When authors beg for feedback! The whole "please review or..." or "I need feedback. Gimme gimme gimme!" is rather annoying. When I like their stories, I review. When I don't like their stories, I keep my mouth shut. I have yet to meet an author who wouldn't like to receive feedback when posting online so lines like these are unnecessary and in my opinion, they sound ridiculous. I know what I'm talking about. I wrote and posted literally dozens of fanfics and I've always found this begging demeaning.

the feedback thing is a double edged sword, half the time we don't want feedback we want something to say read it, we don't need essays extolling the virtues or sins of our work, just a counter to say you looked. Well I do anyway. and I had a long whine about this yesterday that was just that, a whine.

I do like reviews. Even the "Good job" sorta ones. But I do prefer the ones where the readers tell me what exactly they liked - it's enough when they say "I loved how Duo kissed Heero in the lift" or something like that.

that is nice, but do we need it, or do we want it, sometimes we need to be told that we're doing right, that's all that someone somewhere is reading what we write.

The longer I'm in the fandom, the more b) irks me. Especially when there's a multipart and the author goes "FIVE REVIEWS OR WON'T POST THE NEXT CHAPTERRR." *desk* I'd rather have a few reviews from people who truly wanted to review than a lot of "forced" reviews.

Exactly! Either people like it and review it or they won't. Maybe it's because I wrote lotsa fics in small fandoms so I'm used to not receiving feedback :) Might be :P
