katikatYou know, lately, there have been a lot of TV series that portray brothers and their relationships. Heroes, Numb3rs, Supernatural, Charmed.... And all of these series have their followers and fans. And these fans love to see "their" brothers to have either a GEN or a SLASH relationship. Me, I'm all for incest, believe me. But there are series where I just don't feel the vibes...
One of these series is Numb3rs. Sorry, but I can't find anything remotely sexual in the relationship between Don and Charlie. Or to be honest, lately, it feels like they aren't even brothers. The close relationship and the re-discovering of them being brothers from season 1 is gone. Now, they behave like good acquaintances, not even good friends. We are lucky to see one scene of them together these days. Charlie has a better relationship with Colby than he has with Don. And there is way too much het there for me to see any sort of slashcest between them. So, one point for GEN here.
Now, lets take Heroes and Nathan and Peter. Here, I could imagine something. But their relationship is not developed enough, mainly because this series is not just about them. But here at least, we feel some sort of tension and vibes. Some closeness. But it's still not enough for me to see them as being lovers. This possibility is still very much remote. Maybe in the future when the angst-iness of Peter reaches its boiling point (yes, I've read spoilers :P). So, another point for GEN.
About Supernatural now. Sam and Dean have probably the most intense relationship I've seen between brothers on TV. Sometimes, it literally steals my breath. There is no doubt that these two are devoted to each other, especially after the latest episode (which was amazing btw). But would it be enough for a slashcest? Hm. Maybe. Though I couldn't see them doing anything kinky or something like that. Their relationship goes simply so deep that there is no place for anybody else there. It's as if they needed each other to breath, to survive, but that doesn't mean that their relationship must be sexual. Though I could see them as lovers. Not the "lets have a quickie in the car" sorta lovers but in the "if you don't hold me now, I will break into thousands of pieces" sort of couple. And that means one point for the slashcest.
And then there is Charmed and Chris and Wyatt. And OMG it's hot here. These two, I can't see in any other relationship but slashcest-ish. They are so incredibly hot that my fingers fairly itch to write slash about them. I think it's because at the beginning, the writers didn't plan on Chris being Wyatt's brother and that's where the vibes come from. I mean the ep Chris Crossed? *fans herself* Wyatt killed his whole family: parents, aunts, cousins and he kept only Chris alive, no matter what troubles his little brother caused him. Tell me one reason besides Wyatt having the hots for his kid brother for the baddie to keep Chris alive. This is my most favorite slashcest couple that makes me go all bounce-bounce-bounce when I just think of them. Definitely a second point for the slashcest here.
And why am I actually writing about this? Because I'm starving for fics - Supernatural and Charmed, slash or gen, I don't care, just good fics. I've stumbled across some SPN archives but it's not really that easy to find something good to read when you are a complete newbie in a fandom. And Charmed? You are lucky when you even find a fic about Wyatt and Chris *sigh* I know, I've written one or two.
So, can you rec me your favorite/a really great/prolific author in these two fandoms? I would be eternally grateful!

Date: 2006-12-15 09:34 pm (UTC)Actually, I can't imagine the new Wyatt as Chris' lover either. But. Imagine the angst. Chris obviously remembers everything. He misses the ship he had with the old Wyatt, he feels really old carrying all the memories when nobody else knows what it was like, he feels the burden terribly, he feels the need to be Wyatt's guide - at least that's what the last episode felt like: Wyatt all bouncy like a puppy and Chris all wise and knowing. It was as if he got used to keeping all the bad away from his older brother to protect him. It would be a nice twist :)
