Of bowling and Brokeback Mountain

Bowling yesterday! The first time for me :D Much fun was had and I even won one round. Beginner's luck, I guess. But I could become really good at it. I think. I got back home around 11.15 PM. Hit the pillow shortly after that.

I see that a lot of people love Brokeback Mountain - hearts and flowers popping all around, that kind of love. Me? I haven't seen this movie and I have no intention to watch it. Why?

a) Because of Jake Gyllenhaal. He is a self-righteous, arrogant jerk whose brain and mouth don't have a good relationship. I always have to wonder, why actors who go all "eww, gay" take such parts. If I have to read one more freaking article about how he and Ledger were oh so uncomfortable playing gay and how they are really really really het, I'll start screaming. Paint me weird but when I don't like an actor, I can't force myself to watch his movies. Never ever.

b) I tried to read Annie Proulx's short story that inspired this movie. Sorry, but something that starts with a man scratching his balls and peeing into the kitchen sink is really not my cup of tea *gags*

This stuff put me off so much that I can't even take a look at the posters without raised hackles. Yeah, yeah, I'm shallow for not appreciating this great art X(

I thought the movie was a bit overrated. Yeah, it was great that there was a gay-themed movie that was mainstream, but I didn't really like either character very much. I know a lot of people loved it, but I was expecting a lot more from it. *shrugs*

Well I saw teh Brokeback Mountein and I like it. It was well filmed and the emotions and story was beliveable. I admit all movies are fantasies, but this one somehow not. It was raw and the feelings as they should be in that era. It is very interesting from this point of view. But on the other hand it is completly different from so called gay movies and even the plot is slow and concerned about those two without any details to surroundig. It is chamber drama for two flutes XD

I agree with you that those articles are whole crap, but still the actor is jerk but plays nicely. It is the same with me nad Brad Pitt. I dilike him as a person but I like the charecters he played. Hard to think about it.

ad.b This is typical male dearest. They like to scratch their jewles adn peeing in to the sink is their sport :P
