About xxxHolic and fansubbers

I've finished all the seven books of the xxxHolic manga and I must say that I liked the 6th and 7th book best. Not because there were new, not yet animated stories there, but because of how they depicted the relationship between Watanuki and Doumeki. It wasn't just about fighting and yelling anymore, it was about what they were ready to sacrifice to save the other. Amazing. Other than that, the stories are mostly the same like in the anime. Sometimes, the wording is a bit different and there are more x-over scenes with Tsubasa Chronicle but that's it. The manga is still fantastic and I don't regret buying it!

On a completely unrelated note: I find myself loosing interest in various anime - Saiyuki Reload Gunlock, Angel Heart, Kyou Kara Maou, Cluster Edge, Noein and Black Lagoon are just some of them. Why? Not because the anime is bad. No, they are really good, some even excellent. But because of the lack of new releases by fansubbers. When I have to wait weeks, sometimes even months for one episode a) I completely forget what happened in the previous one and b) I start not looking forward to it anymore since I've turned my interest elsewhere. I'm NOT bashing the fansubbers since I know that RL can be a real bitch (trust me, I know how hard this sort of stuff is - I translated all the 7 books of FAKE for a friend of mine). But that's why I happily turn to fansubbers who maybe don't produce such a quality stuff, but at least they release the eps regularly. Enough of a rant!

I've had an especially hard time with Noein. The last episode is taking forever. That's a show I may have to watch in a marathon just to understand it.

I'm starting to do the same. I'd rather watch something that's not perfect than wait weeks (and sometimes months) between episodes. I understand that people have more to their lives than fansubbing, but it gets so frustrating to wait.

On the happier side of things, Vincent from Shinsen is back after being away for a while. Maybe we'll see Noein and Black Lagoon soon. I hope whatever he had to get settled in RL is fine for him now (and not just so he can go back to fansubbing).

With Noein, I suspected something like that would happen that's why I still have the latest 3 eps to watch. I want to watch the last 4 eps in one sitting.

Yes, less perfect is always better than nothing at all. The hardest for me was xxxHolic since I adore that one. Do you remember when it was rec'ed in the anime rec'ing comm? How the Shinsen subber went all apeshit because the rec'er said that they were "dragging their feet"? And now them going all berserker about the GunxSword anime. I mean, there haven't been any new eps subbed for months by them. No wonder that fans started to ask if it's still active or not even if there was the active sign with this series :(

I've given up on Saiyuki Reload Gunlock a while ago. I mourn for the fact that they fired the crew who made first and second season. Reload just couldn't cut it. *sulks*

I've liked the first season best. Hakkai and Gojyo were obviously a couple there. The second season was good too... But with Reload, it started to go downhill :( They've made some half-hearted attempt to return the previous atmosphere but... :( And now, with the subbers being so slow... I know that they have their own lives etc. but it still makes me frustrated like hell! X(

- Gah! I know what you mean! When I finally download episode 13 for Gunlock, I had to re-watch several episodes... And I stopped downloading the subbed KKM. I just go with the raw and read episode summaries on the comm. ^_^;; They're almost as good and so much faster.

I'm the same with Saiyuki Reload Gunlock but I don't mind that I can't remember, I love the Saiyuki characters too much to give up on it ^_^!
