Movies on DVD 25/50: The Mortal Instruments

Finally watched this! And from what people told me, I expected more of a disaster. It wasn't a bad movie per se, I just didn't like it as much as I like Shadowhunters, for several reasons, the main being that Alec was basically a non-entity in the movie - he disappeared completely for the last 40 min. or so - and the parabatai bond between him and Jace didn't exist in the movie either. So, basically, the two things I love best about the books and the show, the movie just hand-waved *sigh* But the visuals were great and I really liked Isabelle, so there was that...

Yeah, I didn't dislike the movie I just thought it was a little flat. People who've read the books (which I haven't) tell me that most of the secondary characters are a little flat too and not very filled out and that probably 95% of the time is spent on Clarie (sp?) and Jace and I really don't care about the pairing all that much. I'm behind on Shadowhunters. I'll pick it up again one of these days.

My favorite character is Alec, so I was disappointed by how small his part was in the movie. But I do have a lot of bunnies how to fix that, so there's that XD Shadowhunters turned really good in S2B, under the new management. Alec actually has a storyline O.O
