Today I went to see The Man from UNCLE and loved it. Not saying it couldn't have been better but we laughed like loons and the action was incredible, especially the chase in the mountains, the chemistry among the leads was amazing and the soundtrack simply breathtaking! Since I've come back, I've been listening to the tunes - available on YT - on repeat!
My favorite part of the movie were the character moments with Napoleon Solo and Ilya Kuryakin. Solo reminded me so much of Neal Caffrey, a light-fingered thief, smooth and never phased by anything. Ilya was a PTSD ridden fighter, insecure and hiding it well. And when these two clashed, sparks flew! But when Ilya almost drowned, Solo rushed to the rescue. And when they were betrayed and Ilya realized that Solo fell into a trap, Ilya raced to save him. And it was glorious. And then the ending, when Ilya's boss told him that Solo betrayed him!
One of my favorite moments was during the chase in the mountains, when they all went flying down the hill and the bad guy went after Solo with a wrench. Gaby tried to save him, but couldn't, the guy was out of his mind and he was hitting Solo like crazy, and Ilya heard Gaby yelling and he went nuts, saving Solo from being killed. Wonderful. I just loved Ilya and Solo so much...
Too bad that the movie is flopping in the cinemas... :(
