So, I just quickly skimmed over the latest ep (49) and I have a theory about Rukia's brother.

Is it just me or does he really have some hidden, sekrit plan to save her that he can't carry out until the execution itself and that's why he is telling everybody to get lost with their worries and concerns so that they wouldn't get underfoot? I'm kinda convinced that he is NOT the cold bastard he pretends to be. Rukia is a member of his house, and I'm sure that he would do anything to protect her even though he wouldn't admit it. I think he is trying to find the culprit who is messing with them too. You know, I kinda like him. He is like so cool! *g*

Yup, that's what I think :)

I still haven't figured Byakuya out. I like him, but I have no idea what motivates him. He's so confusing. I refuse to read ahead in the manga to find out what's up. ^_______^

I don't own the manga so there is no temptation for me *g* But I like Byakuya too. I mean, he behaves like a bastard but I liked it how he told the white-haired captain of Rukia (sorry, I'm really bad with names) not to worry so much because it shortens his life. So, there must be some sort of "human" side in him :)

And I like your icon. The text made me snicker :D

the white-haired captain of Rukia

That's Ukitake. I REALLY like him! I was so happy to see more of his story in the latest episode.

Hehe, that icon of Gin is pretty fun, isn't it? I haven't figured out yet if he's a bad guy or not. I've tried very hard not to hear any spoilers. ^_^

I still didn't watch the series as a whole. I got stuck around ep 12 *sweatdrops* So I don't really know - is Ukitake sick? You know, sometimes I have the feeling that the captain who was killed, isn't dead after all. It was just a feeling, you know? And that Gin knows about it. It would be way too obvious if Gin was the bad guy here and Bleach has a kinda complicated story for something like that.

I didn't realize Ukitake was sick at all until this last episode. He's only been shown a little bit before. I don't know if anyone else knows how sick he is. I'd go looking for info, but I don't want to find spoilers.

I have no idea what's up with Aizen (the dead captain), but I know he's not exactly what he seems to be. I stayed away from that spoiler, too.

It would be way too obvious if Gin was the bad guy here

I agree. The anime makes you think so, so that makes me think he's not (or he's at least not alone).
