This is not my favorite FF movie. That honor belongs to FF5, closely followed by FF4. I think it's on par with FF6. Though my experience was definitely clouded by the knowledge that this is Paul Walker's last movie. I just couldn't enjoy it to the fullest, knowing that he died and they had to change the story, that his character would've gone in a completely different direction if Paul hadn't died...
My favorite part was definitely the rescue of Ramsey, the action on the bus - it's not really a spoiler, it's been in every trailer and sneak peek. That was hands down the best sequence. And I also really liked Kurt Russell's character, Mr Nobody - he was a sassy, kick-ass smart-ass. I liked him a lot and I'm glad we will learn more about him in FF8.
On the other hand, I thought that they underused Jason Statham - the Decker Shaw situation didn't really feel like the main storyline - and Lucas Black, too. And there were only a handful of scenes with Dom and Brian. It feels as if with the broadening of the franchise's scope, it lost some of its intimacy that was still there in FF4 and FF5, when it was mostly just Dom, Brian and Mia.
And the ending... Yes, I was all teary-eyed! I wonder, was it Dom talking about Brian... or Vin about Paul, the voice-over. I think both. "Where ever he will be, even halfway across the world, he will always be my brother..." And when they parted ways and Brian's car rode off into the sunset... Yeah, I was barely holding back tears. The ending was bittersweet because, yeah, Brian won't be joining them again on their shenanigans, but his and Mia's home will now be their little gang's base, so to speak, a place to rest and heal and recuperate and not think about the bad things out there. And I like that.
Definitely worth seeing in the cinema. But if you do bawl easily - like me - I would recommend you to spoil yourself for how it ends so that you're prepared. I'm glad I did. I don't think I could have stopped myself from crying otherwise.
