Sleepy Hollow 108-112
Jan. 27th, 2014 09:15 pmWell, that was... frantic and disjointed and weird. The music lent to such a feverish pace, even when it was not needed - like them simply walking in the woods - that when it finally came to a really scary, suspenseful scene, I was so tired of being all wired tight, that it actually annoyed me.
The only thing that really surprised me, was that Henry was Ichabod and Katrina's son. I wasn't surprised that he turned evil, in 9 cases out of 10, the actor plays bad guys, so, I would've been more surprised, if he turned out to be a good person. But Henry is Jeremy is War, huh? Interesting.
The rest though... Abbie trapped in a frickin' doll house? Katrina once again a damsel in distress, from the princess in the Ivory Tower turning into the kidnapped War Prize? Ichabod trapped in the grave? The captain in prison? And Jenny in a car accident? It just felt like they wanted to have every one character in peril. Which was not necessary. Honestly? I was not impressed.
I guess I liked it better in the beginning, when the show was smaller, more intimate - just like with SPN, when it goes huge, it gets boring, it's the up close and personal storylines that make me feel invested.
I like the characters, Abbie, Jenny and Ichabod - Katrina not really, as I said, too much of a damsel in distress - but I'm not sure if I'll be back for S2. I hope they slow down the frantic pace and give the show cleaner, straighter storylines. But... the season finale didn't really keep my interest.
