MMM: #16 Fantastic Four

Another case of owning a DVD for years without having seen it. And in the immortal words of one Douglas Richardson, not bad - but not good either. I loved all the character moments but I expected something... more, I guess? The best part of the movie? Ioan Gruffudd's pretty, pretty face and Chris Evans' comedic talent - gosh, the man can do comedy and cocky, funny characters like few others. And yet, when you see him as Steve Rogers, when you see his earnestness, you would never say he was anything but straight-laced! That's what I call talent. Still, I like him better as Captain America than the Human Torch.
In the reboot, Johnny Storm will be played by Michael B. Jordan. As you know, I don't like gender/race bending when it comes to characters, I would prefer to see actual POC characters brought to the big screen - like the Black Panther, for example - but whatever. I'm not a fan or hater of the actor or the franchise, so... Whatever floats the studio's boat, I guess. And if the casting director is convinced he's the right guy for the job? Who am I to argue? But then, I hope they make Sue Storm black too, that they don't come up with some convoluted, silly adoption story or whatever. If you go down the road, be consistent, studio!
So, overall, some good tidbits but mostly a non-event as far as this movie goes. Too bad, they had some real talent available there.
