I'm now halfway through the show. It was canned after one season, so I now have only 11 more eps to go. And I think I can understand why it was canned. It's not... bad per se, just a bit boring? It's very... teenage-y. And I know that it's a show about teenagers for teenagers but so is Teen Wolf and that one is much more action driven and funnier. Oh well...

I started watching the show for one reason and one reason only: Shelley Hennig. Shelley plays one of the main characters, Diana Meade, the "scout girl". Meaning, the nice one. She's cute and sweet and funny and generous and... simply adorable. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't have bothered with the show in the first place, to be honest.

The lead is played by Britt Robertson. This is the first thing I've ever seen her in. Before, all I knew about her was that she was Dylan O'Brien's girlfriend. She's cute too. I love her character's, Cassie's, friendship with Diana. I love that they didn't go down the partner betrayal route with the Diana-Adam-Cassie love triangle. I love that Cassie was more interested in preserving her friendship with Diana than in snogging with Adam. That was sweet.

Who I can't stand is Faye, though. She's bitchy just because. Eh. Not my type of a character.

And I still can't believe that Gale Harold - Gale Harold! - is playing a dad in this one. Diana's dad! Sheesh, the time sure flies...

At least that's how cast and crew view it, according to Eric Balfour.

Question: Is Season 5 going to be Haven’s last? —Geoffrey

Ausiello: “It very well could be,” Eric Balfour ventured when we saw him at the Saturn Awards. “Nobody at the network’s said that, but we are viewing it that way.” To the point that at least one of the producers “promised that he’s shooting two endings,” one of which will afford proper closure. As Balfour explains, “The writers are of the opinion that you don’t get the opportunity to see the finish line very often on a television series, so knowing that we have the ability to sort of plan for that – and we have [the length of] two seasons to do it, it’s not like it’s tomorrow — I actually am of the opinion that I hope we do it, because I would love to give the fans a real ending and honor the show that way.”

I agree with him. Yes, I would miss the show but I would prefer a definite ending to a cliffhanger and a cancellation (see The Glades).
