I finally remembered why I dropped the series with this book the first time around. I just couldn't handle everybody's stupidity, especially Harry's and Susan's. Harry was brash where he should have stood down (see the first encounter with Kyle and his sister) and meek where he should have been decisive (see the incident with Agatha Hagglethorne). And Susan, journalist or not, when a wizard tells you vampires are dangerouns, you FRICKIN' LISTEN! God, I got so, so angry at both of them because half the things that happened in this book happened because of their own stupidity!
Also, the book itself was way too convoluted. The author kept throwing in twist after twist after twist until it felt like he was simply adding pages to meet a goal. By the time the ending came and Harry battled the vampires, I was actually bored.
The only really good thing was Thomas. Thomas rocked! Other than that? I don't get people's obsession with this series. Harry is so stupid it actually hurts. I guess I will stick with Kevin Hearne's "The Iron Druid Chronicles" for the time being.
