"Bad Luck" by luthier | Gen | The latest passenger of MJN Air takes a little too much interest in a very uninterested and uncomfortable Martin. | ~3.400 words

“Thank you,” Martin said, after a moment. Douglas considered saying something witty in return, half a dozen things coming to mind. Somehow none of them seemed very appropriate.

“You’re welcome,” he murmured instead, quietly.

Great fic! At first, Douglas finds it so funny how much discomfort the attention of their passenger is causing Martin but once he realizes that Martin is genuinely afraid... Wow! The gloves are off. Yeah, protective!crew - as the tag on AO3 says - is kinda my thing ;)

Some people are all about tight butts and smooth six-packs when it comes to men - I'm and eye girl!

James McAvoy, Matt Bomer, Jensen Ackles - and now Benedict Cumberbatch. Their eyes! Their eyes, peeps! *_* So, so gorgeous! How can I pay attention to anything else when their eyes are so arresting... *happy sigh*

BTW, what color are Benedict eyes? Some say green, some say blue... But they are definitely cat-like!

Okay, I'm diving in again *cracks knuckles*

Yeah, the case was rather boring the second time around too. Too much time was spent on Irene and the king dancing and making googly eyes at each other. Not my cuppa.

But! I loved the scenes with Holmes and Watson. David Burke's awesome as Watson. And it's too bad that he left the show after only 13 episodes. I read somewhere that it was his decision and that they parted on good terms? That it was he who recommended Edward Hardwicke to the execs? I hope so. Because he was really great as Watson. He showed just the right amount of excitement for the case and exasperation with Holmes. The scene where he berated Holmes for using drugs was fantastic!

And I quite like Jeremy Brett in this part. He did all the roles - the stableman and the clergyman - superbly, I really wouldn't have recognized him. No wonder that Watson tended not to recognize Holmes in his disguises in the books if he looked like that.

Though I have to wonder, why are all the Holmes and Watsons played by relatively old actors? Don't get me wrong, they are awesome and as I get older myself, I do prefer actors older than me, but, according to Wiki, Holmes was born in 1854. These stories take place before Reichenbach, which happened in 1893. Holmes wasn't even 40 yet and Watson was around 40. It's really curious... I mean, Downey&Law and especially Cumberbatch&Freeman fit their parts much better, age-wise.

But back to Brett and his Holmes and Watson. Who do YOU like better in the part of Watson: Burke or Hardwicke? I just want to know what I'm in for!
