Movie meme

The year's end is knocking at our collective door and since I don't plan to go to the cinema this year anymore, I decided to do a meme...

Best film:
XMFC, hands down. I went to see it THREE times, I loved it so much! And I can't remember how many times I have seen it on my comp since then. Yes, smitten doesn't even begin to cover it!

Biggest disappointment:
Cowboys & Aliens. The trailer looked amazing. But the movie itself was one big disappointment. Weird story, weird characters that I just couldn't connect with. Eh...

Best het pairing:
Steve Rogers & Peggy Carter, Captain America. There was just something incredibly appealing about them. She was kick ass but a bit hardened and he was so amazingly kind and earnest. And the ending pretty much broke my heart, even though I knew it would happen.

Best slash pairing:
Charles Xavier & Erik Lehnsherr, XMFC. Seriously, if these two had been a man and a woman, they would've climbed each other like a tree, definitely. You rarely see two people so deeply in love. Beautiful.

Best family:
Dom and Mia Toretto and Brian O'Conner, Fast Five. These three... Man. For the first time, they really felt like a family with an unbreakable bond. Wonderful. Their devotion made you want to be a part of it.

Best team:
Ethan, Brandt, Benji & Jane, MI4: Ghost Protocol. They were simply amazing and they complemented each other perfectly. And their chemistry, especially between Ethan and Brandt, was off the charts!

Het ship I wanted but didn't get:
Thor & Sif, Thor: Jane was a sweet girl but I would've preferred Thor with Sif.

Best special effects:
Thor, esp. in 3D! Asgard, the planet of the ice giants... Wow! Nothing could beat that!

Best chase:
Fast Five, hands down. The last car chase with Dom and Brian driving, stealing the safe from the police station. Awesome! It got my blood pumping like whoa!

Biggest "It was GREAT!" surprise:
XMFC. Would you believe I didn't even plan on seeing it in the cinema? Heh! I can't even believe that I wanted to pass on this movie *head/desk*

Could've been better:
The Three Musketeers. If they had chosen a different actor for d'Artagnan and focused more on the musketeers and less on spectacular CGI.

Most embarrassing moment:
Captain America, the Cap as a movie star, doing dumb promo stunts. I literally cringed. Will skip it when re-watching.

Worst twist:
Fast Five, when the credits rolled. The scene with Hobbs and Monica. You know which one, right? That's up there with "Bobby in the shower" among the worst twists of all time.

Best twist:
MI4: Ghost Protocol. Spoilers! )

Actor I fell in love with this year:
James McAvoy! *_* So, so good! Can't wait to see his new movies!

And what about you, my friends? Join me in this meme?

The Mentalist: Loved the episode as a whole and was glad to add yet another "girl saves boy" item to my list. The beginning with Lisbon and Jane was epic and it pushed all my protective!girl buttons \o/

Grimm: You know what's great about this show? Besides its mythology in general and Monroe in particular? That Nick didn't grow up as a Grimm so he doesn't have these pre-set prejudices against "monsters", that he actually genuinely wants to help them, he doesn't want to kill them on sight. Having Monroe as a "source" helps, of course, because Monroe lets him see the things from the "monster's" POV and Nick's willing to listen. I also really like Hank and Juliette and Sgt. Wu! Best new show of the season, hands down.

I decided to keep this episode of Merlin and watch it together with the season finale next week, since it's ep 1 and 2, you know? That way, I'll get the whole story at once.
